I've been building something all summer...
Quietly, in the mornings, before the house woke up.

The day I found my season, everything I'd been reaching for suddenly made sense.🍂

For years I thought colour was something other people just knew.

Funny, looking back, my home was full of clues.
I couldn't read them yet.

I'm an Autumn. 🤎
Warm, deep, earthy.
Rust and olive, chocolate and cream, brass and candlelight.
Forests climbing the stairs, books to the ceiling, a rust sofa you sink into, a piano and guitars in the corner.

The abundance of the harvest, creative, storied, lived-in.
The kind of home that wraps around you like a wool blanket.

And the moment I knew it, everything clicked into place.
I understood why these rooms settle something in me.
Why the cold greys I'd tried so hard to love never once felt like home.

It was never random.
It was me, written in colour all along, waiting for me to notice.🏡

That's what your season does.

One of them is 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴, and part of you 𝘢𝘭𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 knows which.

You know that feeling — three testers on the wall, none of them right?

Here's what I know: it was never the paint's fault. 🧡

We start in the wrong place, that's all.
We start at the 𝘵𝘪𝘯, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘥𝘦, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘥, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘱𝘱, and wonder why nothing feels right once it's up.

Here's the truth great interior designers will quietly tell you: 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁.
After your floors, your light, the way you actually live in the room.
A colour is never right or wrong on a little chip, it's only right beside your sofa, your floor, your soft Irish light.

You think you're 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 for colour. I hear it 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬... and 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘦 of the reasons holds up. 🙄

"𝘐 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨."
You've been guessing alone, with nothing to check against. That's not lack of taste, that's lack of guidance.

"𝘐'𝘷𝘦 𝘯𝘰 𝘦𝘺𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘵." You wear colour. You save the rooms that make you stop scrolling. That's your eye, it's just waiting to be trusted again.

"𝘐'𝘭𝘭 𝘸𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘺." So you hold back, and live with flat. But knowing your colours first is the cheapest, most freeing part of the whole job.

"𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘦𝘭𝘴𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘴." They don't. They've learned to trust one instinct at a time. And you can too.

None of this means you're not creative.
It only means no one ever showed you how to see your own colours.
