NEW BUILD TOP TIP #5 🛁‼️

Have you ever thought about which way your bath should face?! 👀

It’s one of those LITTLE details that can make a BIG difference to your bathroom!

We actually picked up this tip from a friend who had built their own home and made this exact mistake! And I’m SO glad they shared it with us! 🙌🏼

Before you finalise your plumbing, think about which end of the bath you’ll actually sit at, where your taps will be positioned and, most importantly, what you’ll be looking at when you’re having a soak! 🛁🤌🏼

The last thing you want is to realise AFTERWARDS that you’d have preferred everything the other way around! 🤦🏼‍♀️

A little forward planning can save a lot of regret!

FOUR YEARS!! Why did it take me this long?! 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

I ALWAYS meant to do this, but I’d either have my hands full or completely forget about it!

And then four years later… I finally remembered! 😂

Literally took seconds, and what a DIFFERENCE!! 😮‍💨🤌🏼

It’s the tiniest details that make the biggest difference sometimes!

Please tell me I’m not the only one who does this?! 😂

We got the IDEA right… but the ex*****on WRONG! 🤦🏼‍♀️

NEW BUILD TOP TIP #4 🏠‼️

When planning our ensuite, we specifically asked for the shaving socket beside our vanity to be positioned lower than standard so it would be hidden out of sight.

Sounds clever, right? 😂

The problem? We didn’t go LOW enough!

Nearly four years later, I can still see it, and it STILL drives me mad. 🤦🏼‍♀️

My advice? Think about the finished height of your vanity, mirrors and fittings BEFORE deciding where your sockets go.

It’s such a tiny detail on a set of plans, but one you’ll notice every single day.

Learning from our mistakes so you don’t have to! 🙌🏼

Very random post alert! ☕😂

But I found myself in Homesavers looking at mugs, and they had SUCH a good selection that I decided they deserved a reel of their own!

So here are 5 mugs I’d buy in Homesavers today 👀

🧡 First up, this gorgeous glazed pumpkin mug. I loved the textured finish and that beautiful autumnal orange colour. Perfect for cosy mornings and a big cup of coffee!

🤍 This cream pumpkin mug was a little bit of me! The soft flecked finish gives it that minimalist, cosy look. Seasonal without being too Halloween, and definitely one you could use all autumn.

👻 This little ghost mug with the pink handle! How cute?! I could just picture this filled with hot chocolate, whipped cream, marshmallows and sprinkles. Such a fun one for kids or teenagers!

🧙‍♀️ “Big Witch Energy” for €3.60! 😂 I mean, the name alone deserves a place in the top five. Such a bit of fun for Halloween.

☕ “Creepy Without Caffeine” for €3.60! Another brilliant one. I absolutely loved the wording on these, and for that price, you really can’t go wrong.

I think Homesavers might be winning when it comes to Halloween mugs this year! 🎃

If you’re building a house and trying to maximise every bit of square footage, here’s something worth considering before you dedicate an entire room to your heating system.

You don’t necessarily need a separate plant room! 👀

When we built our house, we managed to incorporate our air to water heating unit, pipework and associated valves into our utility room.

And here’s the clever bit! 👇

Rather than having all the pipework running along the length of the wall, our installers brought the unit forward slightly and positioned the pipework behind it.

All the necessary valves are still accessible for servicing and maintenance, but everything is contained within a much smaller footprint.

📏 The space our air to water unit takes up inside our double press:

Height: 254cm
Width: 68cm
Depth: 73cm

These measurements are for the main unit only and don’t include the smaller pump located at the bottom right.

Now, I’m not saying plant rooms are a bad idea. They’re fantastic if you have the space! But if you’re trying to maximise your floor area, this is definitely something worth discussing with your heating installer and designer early in the planning process.

Just make sure the layout allows for the manufacturer’s required clearances and safe servicing access.
