🕯️ From Halloween to All Souls’ Day: A Time to Remember 🍂

Did you know that Halloween is connected to two important days in the Christian calendar?

Halloween comes from All Hallows’ Eve — the evening before All Saints’ Day on 1 November, when Christians honour all saints, both known and unknown.

The following day, All Souls’ Day on 2 November, is dedicated to remembering those who have passed away. It’s a time to reflect on the people we’ve loved, the memories we carry, and the special place they will always hold in our hearts.

Here in Ireland, this time of year has a particularly special meaning. Our traditions stretch back centuries, with the ancient festival of Samhain marking the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter. Over time, these seasonal customs blended with Christian traditions, creating the rich mix of Irish culture we know today.

For many families, the beginning of November is also a time to visit loved ones’ graves, leave flowers, light a candle, and take a quiet moment to remember.

And sometimes, it’s the smallest gestures that say the most.

From next week, we’ll have a selection of grave planters available — a thoughtful way to add a touch of colour and care to a loved one’s resting place as we enter this season of remembrance.

Because love doesn’t end, and neither do the memories.

Behind the scenes: what happens when the flowers arrive

It may look like we’re working at lightning speed, but I can assure you… I only wish I worked this fast!

Every delivery of flowers gets the full VIP treatment before they make their way into your bouquets and arrangements.

Excess foliage and any damaged leaves are removed, every stem gets a quality check, stems are freshly cut, and some flowers even get a little dip in hot water to help them hydrate properly.

Then it’s fresh, clean water for everyone.

It’s all part of the conditioning process, and it makes a huge difference to the lifespan and quality of your flowers.

All that care happens before the flowers ever reach you, because beautiful flowers deserve the best possible start.

Sharing for a friend who’s work I can highly recommend

If you had more confidence and less self-doubt, what would you achieve?

Our thoughts are incredibly powerful. The way we think, influences how we feel, how we behave and, ultimately, what we believe is possible.

This has been at the core of my work as a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist, where I have seen first‑hand how shifting unhelpful thinking patterns can create meaningful change.

As part of my MSc in Coaching Psychology, I am currently offering a limited number of pro bono coaching sessions in my capacity as a trainee coaching psychologist.

My underlying approach is Cognitive Behavioural Coaching, focusing on the relationship between our thoughts, emotions and behaviours, and how these can influence the way we approach challenges. I also incorporate principles from Positive Psychology, including strengths, resources, wellbeing and what helps people to thrive.

Mindset coaching can be helpful for:

- Improving self‑belief and overcoming imposter syndrome
- Health related behaviour change
- Stress reduction and burnout prevention
- Public speaking or performance related anxiety
- Improving work-related confidence and performance
