Minister Marian Harkin welcomes €20,000 in funding for the Taste of Sligo Food Festival

Minister for State Marian Harkin has warmly welcomed the allocation of €20,000 to support the Taste of Sligo Food Festival under the 2026 Agri‑Food Tourism Programme, part of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s Rural Innovation and Development Fund.

Minister Harkin said:
“I am delighted that the Taste of Sligo Food Festival has been awarded €20,000 in funding following a highly competitive national process. This is a fantastic recognition of the creativity, ambition and community spirit driving food tourism in Sligo.”

She continued:
“The Taste of Sligo Festival showcases the very best of our local producers, chefs, farmers and food entrepreneurs. This funding will help strengthen the festival’s impact, attract more visitors to the region, and highlight the exceptional quality of Sligo’s food culture.”

Minister Harkin emphasised the wider value of the programme:
“Agri‑food tourism is a powerful opportunity for rural communities. By bringing together our landscape, heritage, food and hospitality, we can create sustainable economic activity that supports local jobs and celebrates what makes our region unique.”

The Minister also acknowledged the work behind the application:
“I want to commend the organisers for their dedication and vision. Their commitment to promoting Sligo’s food story is evident, and this funding will help them continue to grow the festival as a flagship event for the Northwest.”

“I am confident that the Taste of Sligo Food Festival will continue to be an outstanding ambassador for the quality, creativity and authenticity of our local food producers.”
