Minister Marian Harkin welcomes โฌ20,000 in funding for the Taste of Sligo Food Festival
Minister for State Marian Harkin has warmly welcomed the allocation of โฌ20,000 to support the Taste of Sligo Food Festival under the 2026 AgriโFood Tourism Programme, part of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marineโs Rural Innovation and Development Fund.
Minister Harkin said:
โI am delighted that the Taste of Sligo Food Festival has been awarded โฌ20,000 in funding following a highly competitive national process. This is a fantastic recognition of the creativity, ambition and community spirit driving food tourism in Sligo.โ
She continued:
โThe Taste of Sligo Festival showcases the very best of our local producers, chefs, farmers and food entrepreneurs. This funding will help strengthen the festivalโs impact, attract more visitors to the region, and highlight the exceptional quality of Sligoโs food culture.โ
Minister Harkin emphasised the wider value of the programme:
โAgriโfood tourism is a powerful opportunity for rural communities. By bringing together our landscape, heritage, food and hospitality, we can create sustainable economic activity that supports local jobs and celebrates what makes our region unique.โ
The Minister also acknowledged the work behind the application:
