I have a question for you all. I’m always being asked to teach resin and I’ve always said no as the studio is just not set up to facilitate it.

But I thought there had to be another way, maybe hire a venue? Very messy! Have one to ones? Too time consuming. And then I really moved to something so unfamiliar to me - use tech and film the tutorials!! There’s also the fact that all these AI generated tutorials on Instagram are not true to life and really annoy me 🤬

Filmed in real time, with a Birds Eye view so you can see the process how I see the process

Not edited or done as a time lapse, I’ll talk you through it step by step with tips & tricks along the way along with links to the products used in the making of 4 x Ocean inspired resin coasters. (There’s over 50 minutes in total!)

It’s August and that means only one thing in the Craft world in Ireland - Irish Country Magazine are back. I’m thrilled to be nominated again in which is the 10th year of the awards sponsored by Circle Club at Bord Gáis Energy Theatre

I did think long and hard about posting this! 🙈

I saw something that annoyed me the other day. Take a well known designer/influencer and a retail giant. Add a collab and come up with a collection that all the wooden elements are mass produced acacia.

Now please, please don’t think I was thinking why didn’t they pick my handmade boards as that’s not the direction I’m interested in going, but I saw another retail giant that’s not even Irish stock beautifully made, Irish hardwood cheese/chopping boards made by an Irish Company in Ireland.

It can be done, but no they chose profit over quality and yes I do fully understand the cost of living crisis but my job is also to educate people in the beauty of Irish wood as well as calling mass production of certain goods for what it is - cheap tat!

There is nothing quite like something good and solid and made from wood!

We have such beautiful Irish hard woods and it’s always exciting when I get a new batch of kiln dried wood. The planning of what shapes work best on the wood, to pouring the resin and finally the oiling that brings out of beauty of the wood grain.

It’s not a fast process to make a cheese or charcuterie board but it’s a gift that will last and last for years to come.

The Summer weather had definitely arrived and I love, love to eat outside. I prefer to eat cold food in the heat so plenty of salads, cheese & charcuterie. Needless to say I use one of my handcrafted wood and resin boards to carry out the goodies. Perfect!
