✨ JUST IN AT THE GAVEL — TWO STUNNING ORIGINAL OIL PAINTINGS ✨
There here so there in the sale
These really do need to be seen in person to appreciate just how good they are.
Two magnificent original, hand-painted oils, both absolutely packed with texture and character. The heavy palette-knife and impasto work gives the paintings incredible depth — some of the paint is almost sculptural when viewed up close.
🗼 Paris Street Scene with the Eiffel Tower
A beautifully atmospheric Parisian scene, full of warm colour, reflections, figures and wonderful heavy texture.
🍻 Signed C. Stuart – Lively Bar Interior
This one is fantastic! A bustling bar scene filled with figures, bottles, light and reflections, all created with bold, confident palette-knife work. Signed C. Stuart lower right.
Both are substantial pieces at approximately 77 × 68 cm framed, presented in quality frames and both have Callan & Harte, Navan labels to the reverse.
These aren't flat decorative prints — they are original textured paintings, and the photographs really don't capture the depth of the paint.
And they've arrived at just the right time...

A beautiful circa 1930s Art Deco bevelled wall mirror — a genuine period piece with a fantastic shaped frameless design.
Measuring approximately 75cm × 48cm, it features a wide bevelled glass edge, original timber backing and period fittings. There is some natural age-related character to the mirror plate, exactly what you would expect from a piece approaching 100 years old.
This would look superb above a console table, in a hallway, bedroom, dressing area or incorporated into a vintage or contemporary interior. A really decorative statement mirror. 🖤✨

We’ve taken a collection of original period Soviet and East German space-themed postage stamps and created this unique framed display celebrating the incredible Space Race era of 1959–1963.
The stamps feature imagery from the pioneering years of space exploration — rockets, spacecraft, satellites and the famous Vostok era.

We’ve mounted and framed the complete six-card Hunting Family, a set of original sporting Old Maid cards dating to around the 1920s. The engraved mount was made here at The Gavel.

Picture it in a country kitchen, hallway or study, or alongside equestrian prints in a cosy cottage. It would also make an unusual gift for someone who loves horses, sporting history or vintage games.

✨ JUST IN AT THE GAVEL ✨
What a statement piece this is! A magnificent late Victorian English brass paraffin oil lamp, standing an impressive 78cm tall.
Dating to around c.1880–1900, it features a beautifully detailed fluted Corinthian column, substantial stepped brass base, decorative capital and a striking cut-glass oil reservoir. The original-style twin-wick controls are clearly marked “DUPLEX – MADE IN ENGLAND.” Duplex burners of this type are associated with late Victorian English oil lamps. 1stDibs
A wonderful piece of Victorian lighting that would look superb in a period home, country house, pub, hotel, restaurant or as a real interior-design statement piece.
