Idit Matan's works of art deal with the act of “combining” which is expressed in the various techniques she uses; the merges in her works are expressed in both form and content. In her studio, Matan "plays" with different materials such as metal, acrylic, wood and many more, using techniques such as sculpture, painting and illustration, all in the service of creating unique textures and colors. Matan's work has a kind of playfulness in it, an uplifting atmosphere combined with optimism that draws the viewer inside. The characters, depicted in a clean yet lively black line, are repeated in her works in different versions, using different techniques and on various surfaces, including ready-made objects, all on backgrounds depicting intense colors. These characters began to appear in her works while she was studying illustration at the New York School of Visual Arts, where she developed the unique style she calls "Graphic Illustration" characterized by naive and simple graphic lines combined with intense and energetic colors. Matan's abstract works are characterized by colorful and expressive-energetic style. In her work, Matan uses many layers of paint that gives her paintings a sculptural, rich quality. In some of her works she depicts abstract landscapes using the light of nature in a lyrical, symbolic way. She does so with the help of mixed media technique using a brush, putty knife, splashes of paint and smears of paint using her bare hands. As part of her work Idit Matan illustrated for various magazines in the United States and her works have been exhibited in gallery exhibitions in Israel and around the world, with many residing in private collections. Her unique style is especially popular among architects and interior designers who use her work in their projects in Israel and around the world.
