"Schleisner Ltd.”, an industrial company in the metal industry formed in 1940 as a family business, trading iron and run today by the grandson of the company’s founder, developed over the years to become a leading company for processing metals. The company’s capabilities in metal processing attracted artists who sought its assistance in creating sculptures which are displayed in a variety of priva
te collections, in city squares, public places, and museums in Israel and worldwide. He continued the family tradition, studied mechanical engineering and is a professional metallurgist. In 1987 he began working and creating in hot iron. Working with the hot substance can be perceived as a dance of art. The hammer blows, the forging of the metal, the whisper of the heated coal stove and the sounds of heating and cooling metals are the sounds to which he moves and creates. The sculptures are the final product of this dance of art. Andrey immigrated to Israel in 1992 and has lived and worked here ever since. His works were displayed in Russia, France, the Czech Republic, and in Israel’s Beit Ariela in Tel Aviv (a permanent exhibition). In 1999 Andrey Koumanin’s statue, "Grasshopper", was displayed on the gate of the Globe Theatre in London and received an appreciation certificate on behalf of the Royal family. At the meeting point between industry and art, "Schleisner Gallery" and the artist create a dialogue of the movement of the substance. Through the place - the train station, and through the creation, Andrey examines and displays the person, the stations in an individual’s life, and the relationships between people. The traditional techniques of the artist’s work combined with the innovative industrial technologies of flame and plasma cutting, welding, the assembly of different metals, as well as the combinations of metal, wood, stone and glass, create many dances. Iron is a live substance; it changes, ages and dies. But under the fire and the artist’s hand, it is returned to life and motion.
שלייסנר בע"מ, חברה תעשייתית בענף המתכת שהוקמה בשנת 1940 כעסק משפחתי למסחר בברזל ומנוהלת כיום ע"י נכדו של מייסד החברה. החברה התפתחה ברבות השנים למפעל מוביל לעיבוד פחי פלדה. יכולות החברה בעיבוד מתכות משכו אליה גם אומנים אשר ביקשו להעזר בה ליצור פסלים המוצבים באוספים פרטיים, בככרות ערים, במוזיאונים בארץ וברחבי העולם ובמקומות ציבוריים שונים.
האומן אנדריי קומנין נולד במוסקבה בשנת 1961 למהנדס מתכות ורקדנית. הוא המשיך את המסורת המשפחתית, למד הנדסת מכונות והוא מטלורג במקצועו. בשנת 1987 החל לעבוד בברזל החם וליצור. העבודה עם החומר הלוהט היא בבחינת מחול שהוא רוקד. מכות הפטיש, הכיפוף , רחש תנור הפחם וקולות הברזל המתלהט והמתקרר הם הצלילים שלפיהם הוא נע ויוצר. כאשר הפסלים הנם תוצר של ריקוד משותף.
אנדרי עלה לישראל בשנת 1992 וכאן הוא חי ויוצר.
עבודותיו של אנדרי קומנין הוצגו ברוסיה, צרפת, צ'כיה, בישראל בבית אריאלה בת"א – תערוכת קבע בספריה למחול. בשנת 1999 הוצב פסלו "חרגול" של שער תיאטרון "גלוב" בלונדון וזכה לתעודת הוקרה מטעם משפחת המלוכה.
בטכניקות מסורתיות של עבודת ידו של האומן שפוגש בטכנולוגיה תעשייתית חדשנית של חיתוך להבה ופלזמה, ריתוך וחיבור מתכות שונות, ובשילוב הברזל בעץ, אבן וזכוכית הוא יוצר מחולות רבים.
הברזל חי, משתנה, מזדקן ומת אולם באש תחת ידו של האומן הוא שב לחיים ומרקד.
