Slice of Rajasthan
This painting depicts the flavor of Rajasthan, the Indian state with flamboyance and vibrancy at it's best.
A Rajasthani folk singer is painted against the background of a small section of Rajasthani architecture, which takes it's inspiration from the famous 'Hawa-Mahal' of Jaipur, Rajasthan. In this painting, I tried to capture, the beauty and essence of of Rajasthan.

Bodhon: The Awakening
Bodhon is the bengali word for awakening. Soil, mud or stone, remain insignificant till its given the shape of an idol, and then suddenly that insignificant soil become God!!!

This become possible, due to a skillful artist who carves God out of stone or soil and awakens the God from an insignificant nothing.

So, almighty is present everywhere around and within us, we just need to invoke and awaken that power.

Hence, the name of the painting is Bodhon: The Awakening!!!

Bidding adieu to 2024 with a last post of this year, with few of my art pieces, which I have created this year. Among those, series is one of the major work, which is still incomplete with 3 more dance forms to go, which is something I am looking forward to complete in 2025.

Apart, from the above, I created some new arts like Ascend of Grace, Sunflower in Golden Vase etc.

Few of my old art works, I have upcycled this year.

Although, I didn't get much time with my jewelry section, as Indian Classical Dance Series, kept me busy but still managed to create two new designs, this year.

Although, I am not very consistent on social media, as I have to juggle between many other commitments too along with my art, I still hope, that my work brought joy to some of you.

Indian Classical Dance Series: KATHAK

The word Kathak is originated from the devnagri word 'Kathakar', with english meaning, story-teller, who narrates the stories from Hindu epics through their dances.

Kathak being originated in the ancient northern India and evolved exponentially, due to the Mughal and Persian invasion in India.

During those periods, kathak was hugely performed in the courts of kings and Sultans, with the shift in it's accompaning music, from typical Bhakti Ras to urdu gazals. Even the accompaning musical instruments changed accordingly.

Kathak, dance is recognized by it's beautiful facial and eye expressions and strong foot work.

The background of the paithing is inspired from a renowned Mughal architecture, 'Taj Mahal'. This is a form of tribute to the place of origin and evolution of this dance form.

Painting on a 14 × 18 inches Canvas with acrylic paints and varnished to protect it from dust and sunlight.

Buddha: The Enlightenment

Here Buddha is painted in such a way, where, only Buddha's face is visible against total darkness.

Buddha is facing towards the light, where holy Buddhist chant of 'OM MANIPADME HUM' is inscribed with gold. Hence the name of the painting, Buddha : The enlightening.

Ascend of Grace

Ascend of Grace is a painting where a lady is painted elevating the stairs of an old temple to offer prayer, in traditional Indian attire.
The darkness of the temple and the soft light from earthen lamp, which is again hidden by the silhouette of the lady, gives this painting a mystical edge.
