Being sea-facing room might have one of the best views in Kadal, and honestly, we didn’t want the design to compete with it.

Being sea-facing, the room changes completely through the day.
Mornings bring in the light, afternoons bring the breeze, and by evening, you get that beautiful shimmer across the water that makes you want to sit there a little longer.

We also wanted the room to feel like it belonged to Udupi. So instead of bringing in a wallpaper that may not age well in a coastal climate, we went with a hand-painted mural inspired by the banana plantations, arecanut trees, coconut palms and the little birds you see around the region.

It became more than just a wall. It brought a little bit of the landscape indoors and, some rooms don’t need much convincing.

The view does most of the work.

Being sea-facing room might have one of the best views in Kadal, and honestly, we didn’t want the design to compete with it.

They say some of the best ideas begin over a cup of coffee.

We think they’re right.

A quick catch up somehow turns into a two hour conversation. A meeting becomes a new business. Friends become family. Plans that once lived in notebooks suddenly start feeling real.

Maybe that’s why cafés have always been more than places that serve coffee.

While designing Kora, we kept coming back to that thought. The space had to feel like somewhere you’d want to stay a little longer, order one more cup, and let the conversation continue.

Because sometimes, the coffee isn’t the reason you remember a place. It’s everything that happened around it.

Have you ever noticed how some cafés make you want to leave after one coffee, while others somehow convince you to order another?

A lot of that comes down to colour.

For Kora, we stayed away from anything that felt loud or overstimulating. Instead, we worked with terracotta, muted greens, warm greys, and soft neutrals. Colours that don’t compete for your attention but quietly encourage you to stay a little longer.

It’s actually a common thought in hospitality design. The palette of a café doesn’t just shape how it looks, it influences how people experience time inside it.

Maybe that’s why your favourite café is never just about the coffee.

Just 5 minutes back, this frame looked completely different.

What you don’t see is everything happening just outside the frame. Someone’s fixing a cushion, someone’s moving a chair for the fifth time, we’re all debating the angle, waiting for the light to do its thing… it’s complete chaos.

And honestly? We wouldn’t have it any other way.

There’s something really satisfying about watching all that madness turn into one frame that feels just right.

There’s a reason cafés have always been more than just places to grab a coffee.

They’re what sociologist Ray Oldenburg called a third place. Somewhere between home and work, where conversations happen, ideas are born, and time slows down just enough for you to stay a little longer.

That was the thought behind this corner at Kora.

A space you don’t just pass through, but one you naturally settle into. Sometimes good design isn’t about asking people to stay. It’s about making them forget they were ever planning to leave.

One thing this project reminded us is that a good space doesn’t always ask for attention. Sometimes it quietly changes the way you experience a place.

If you ever come across a café or a bar that makes you stop for a second, look up. Notice the light. The materials. The little details. There’s usually a story hiding in plain sight.

And if you’re ever in Bangalore, we’d say this one’s worth experiencing twice. Once in the day, and once after dark.

Trust us, they’re two completely different conversations.

And that’s a wrap on Dual Room.

Dual Room is probably one of those spaces you have to experience twice.

Come here during the day and it feels quiet, almost meditative. The natural light takes over, the textures become the focal point, and the painting quietly welcomes you into the space.

We took inspiration from Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam, not to recreate it, but to reinterpret that moment of connection. It became the starting point for the story we wanted the space to tell.

Then night falls.

The lights dim, the same painting takes on a completely different presence, and the space shifts into something moodier, bolder, and a little mysterious.

That’s the story behind Dual Room.

it’s finally time to introduce you to Dual Room.

This is a space-shifting concept we designed in Bangalore, and honestly, it was one of the most exciting briefs we’ve worked on.

Walk in during the day and you’ll find yourself in a café. Come back after sunset and the same space transforms into a cocktail bar with a completely different mood.

Designing one space to hold two identities meant thinking about every transition, every material, and every shift in atmosphere.

We’ve been waiting to share this one.
