Raj Vilas is a roughly 120-year-old bungalow in Mysore, conceived as a holiday home for the grandchildren of the erstwhile Maharaja of Mysore. The kitchen was designed as part of the restoration, bringing contemporary functionality into a home defined by classical and gothic architectural character.

The brief called for a kitchen that was modern and highly functional, yet classical in its style and detailing. The design responded to the existing window elevations, wooden rafters, natural lime plaster walls and terracotta and red oxide flooring.

The kitchen combines American Oak solid wood in an elegant frame design with clear fluted glass wall units and grey matte laminate cabinetry. Black Statuario Quartz in a matte honed finish was chosen for the countertop. Blum soft-closing hardware and Oaktree's Earth Grey drawer system provide smooth, durable functionality.
Antique brass handles and a customised ceramic farmhouse sink add classical detailing, with the sink cabinet specially adapted to accommodate it.
