Day 14 / Kerala Mural Art Series 🪷✨

Kataka Mudra

After an entire week of chaos, travel, and stepping away from the easel, finally showing up today.

We traveled to Ayodhya, and the absolute highlight was watching my daughter perform dance at Ram Janmabhoomi—a core memory for sure! But honestly, a sincere PSA: avoid traveling in this intense heat and humidity anywhere across India right now. Between back-to-back schedules, crowded temple darshans, returning home to an exhausting round of viral fevers, and juggling work, it took a solid week just to get back on our feet.

Picking up the brush for the Kataka Mudra felt like an anchor today.
Promising to get back into our daily posting rhythm starting tomorrow. See you all then! 🎨💛

Day 13 / Kerala Mural Art Series 🙏🪷✨

Anjali Mudra (The Gesture of Reverence & Devotion)

Representing pure surrender, greeting the divine within another, and deep reverence.

Watching my daughter practice her Asamyukta and Samyukta Hastas in classical dance made me pause and reflect today. It’s fascinating how Natya Shastra, Shilpa Shastra, and Kerala murals are truly cousins of each other—where the dancer sculpts emotion in the air, the muralist captures that exact stillness on canvas. 🎨✨

Traditions connecting across forms and generations! 💛

Day 12 / Kerala Mural Art Series 🪷✨

Varada Mudra (The Gesture of Boon & Generosity)

Symbolizing boundless compassion, charity, and the granting of boons in traditional iconography.

Beating the Monday blues by showing up at the art desk and channeling some divine grace with the downward-flowing elegance of the Varada Mudra. A little splash of colors and tradition is the best way to start the week right! 🎨💛

Day 7 / Kerala Mural Art Series ☸️🔥

Sudarshana Chakra (The Sacred Discus)
A powerful symbol of cosmic order, divine protection, and dynamic energy in Kerala mural iconography. Loved capturing the rhythmic symmetry, geometric layers (shatkona / hexagram), and the fiery jwala embellishments!

What has been your favorite motif from the series so far? Let me know below 👇🎨
