Day 3 of the North East Growth Lab cohort by IIM A Ventures came to an end with lots of learning and pitches.

Avirup presented Xaal Xuta to the room filled with mentors and the fellow founders.

It was an opportunity to place Xaal Xuta's story and business case before an audience built specifically to advance Northeast India's next generation of enterprises, a rare instance of heritage craft coming alongside deeptech, agritech, and healthtech on equal terms.

Our appreciation to IIMA Ventures and SAP for building a platform that recognizes the entrepreneurial spirit in the Northeast, the craft as an enterprise, and to the founders who made these three days a genuine exchange of ideas.

The morning opened with a Unit Economics workshop led by Chintan Bakshi of IIMA Ventures, the kind of session that forces you to look hard at your own margins.

It was followed by a panel on Funding for Early-Stage Startups, with AB Chakravarthy of Upaya Social Ventures, Manash Protim Buragohain of Small Industries Development Bank of India Venture Capital and Nickson Sharma of NEDFi, moderated again by Chintan Bakshi.

๐—๐š๐š๐ฅ ๐—๐ฎ๐ญ๐š, represented by the co-founder Avirup, is at the North East Growth Lab 2026. It is a bootcamp run by CIIE CO (๐ˆ๐ˆ๐Œ๐€ ๐•๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ) in collaboration with SAP, bringing together 23 startups from across deeptech, agritech, healthtech and crafts.

The day opened with a workshop on opportunity mapping, customers and operating models. Then followed by a Founder Stories panel featuring founders from The Kalaa Store, Brown Living, Zerund, Innofarms and KOSHA, moderated by Chintan Bakshi of IIMA Ventures.

For a brand built on Northeast India's handloom traditions, rooms like this matter.

Craft-led businesses are rarely in the room when conversations turn to scale, customers and operating models, and this one put crafts and livelihoods squarely on the agenda alongside deeptech and healthtech.

Every runner, every cushion cover, every thread that finds its way into a Xaal Xuta home carries the hands of a weaver who learned the craft and made it her way of life.

Loin looms passed down, not purchased. Patterns held in memory, not manuals. Northeast India's artisans have kept this craft alive through generations who had every reason to let it fade, and didn't.
