Every project starts with a sample board once the finish, color, and texture have been agreed upon. It's a great way to give both my clients and myself peace of mind before I touch their walls 😌

You know what else starts with a sample board? 👉🏻 Ideas to experiment with that sometimes eventually turn into a new finish I can offer💡🤩

One of the key aspects to mastering this craft is to really understand how the material behaves at different stages and under different circumstances, because the more control you have the more intentional the final look is going to be.

Travertino Classico Duo - when two color palettes collide 💥 This particular look imitates the road between travertine and marble as deposited minerals blend creating those characteristic pitted lines, before heat and pressure changes its crystal structure and turns it into veined marble 🤯

The beauty of Travertino-style finishes is that it's as practical as it is aesthetic. To spread some love and knowledge about what makes it a great choice for transforming walls, here are some of the fun facts I like to share with my clients 👇🏻

💰 Affordable: you get the character and depth of natural travertine stone for a fraction of the cost of installing real stone slabs.

🪶 Light: it weighs little compared to stone, so the difficulty of installation can be completely avoided.

🛡️ Durable: it's highly resistant and can last for decades while - similarly to the stone - developing beautiful character over time.

💨 Breathable: its lime base allows moisture to evaporate through the wall, while its high alkalinity makes it mold-resistant - which makes it kind of ideal for Tuscan homes.

🌿 Natural: lime-based plaster mixed with marble dust, with no added chemicals.

Achieving that authentic textured stone look requires specific substrate preparation and application technique. And at the same time, it leaves so much room for variety!

That combination of traditional craftsmanship and the plasterer's personal touch is what makes every project completely unique ✨
