Japan has one of the most beautiful arts & crafts in the world, but the craftspeople behind it live in a time where it is extremely difficult to find successors. The tragedy in this is that a lot of the arts & crafts are dying out because of that. Raising awareness and finding out if there's interest outside of Japan for these products

2. If there is enough interest, to bring those products to the people interested

3. Building an ecosystem that supports the craftsmen to find ways of keeping the tradition alive

This is my first step in raising awareness and finding out if there is an interest for these arts & crafts in the world to see if I can/should move on to 3. I see where this leads and if you can help me make this happen :)

This year at the end of September, everyone’s eyes turned toward the moon for Tsukimi (月見) — literally moon viewing.

The full moon precedes the rice harvest, and gatherings are hosted to pray for abundance and rewarded effort.

Dance, poetry recitals, tsukimi dango, and bonfires all symbolize this event.

Shimogamo shrine is one of the most iconic places to enjoy the celebration. The beautiful grounds provide a wonderful venue for enjoying the performances, tsukimi dango, and the moon itself.

We’re excited to announce our Ceramics Apprentice Program, beginning in 2027!

This new offering brings a cohort of eight apprentices to Shigaraki, where they will learn directly from local masters who are specialists in locally embedded technique.

Over the course of two months, participants will immerse themselves in the beauty of a pottery town, enjoy culturally rich excursions, and finish by firing their pieces in a traditional climbing kiln.

Every year, our Kintsugi Restorers create a collection of fully-repaired kintsugi pieces.

Follow along on the year-long journey of repair for a few of the pieces in this collection.

The earliest stages, when the broken pieces are first reassembled, are some of the most rewarding in the whole process.

The form is reunited, the chips are mended, the missing gaps are filled, and you can see what was once broken as a whole piece once again.

Each month we’ll share another stage of repair before launching the whole collection in December. Stay tuned.

Discover a “vessel that contains just enough,” our Bordeaux Ōryōki. 

Traditionally used by Zen Buddhist monks, Ōryōki nesting bowls are an elegant yet highly portable piece of tableware. 

Crafted by master artisan Nakade Hiromichi, and orchestrated by our partners at Gato Mikio Shoten, our Ōryōki are only available in limited quantities. 

As a great feat of precision is required for the bowls to perfectly nest within one another, only a few artisans are capable of producing Ōryōki of such high quality. 

Whilst most Ōryōki are finished with a glossy finish, our matte version lends a timeless appearance suitable for the modern home.
