YAMAGATA DANTSU has launched “YAMAGATA DANTSU STANDARD,” a new project dedicated to the design, creation, and offering of Dantsu rugs focused on high-quality standards.
The project was launched with product designer Naoto Fukasawa as art director. For the inaugural collection, “STANDARD COLORS,” Tetsuhiro and Kyoko Hattori of “YAECA” have produced and overseen the color palette for the new Dantsu rug series.
The new series, “CRAFTON,” is the essential foundation of the STANDARD COLORS collection, representing the “Hand-tufted Dantsu” (Crafton) technique uniquely refined by YAMAGATA DANTSU for over half a century.
Ten colors have been curated for their timeless universality, designed to harmonize with every scene of daily life.
These solid rugs, crafted from high-quality wool dyed and blended with subtle color variations, are born through a meticulous hand-tufting process and layers of hand-finishing. Exuding a delicate depth and fine-grained texture, they quietly support daily life from beneath your feet.
The collection also highlights the beauty of “ecru” inherent in these high-quality materials, featuring options made from 100% rare “Xining Wool”—a Chinese wool considered the highest quality for rugs—and “first-cut lambwool” with its fine and soft texture.
