Simple is... a challenge. This training centre for Volvo was transformed from a typically utilitarian factory space - steel beams span low offering very limited headroom, services snaked around bare along the soffit and walls, and floor levels that would not pass the inspection of any designer. In the capable hands of Elvy (Praxis), we worked through weeks of ex*****on with very frequent debates to the smallest details to bring the brand's identity to life albeit with all the limitations present.
The design was not particularly complex, but when naked details were placed against very uneven surfaces, a lot of technical know-how was required to keep the budget lean.
