Scenes from the studio: new red clay kurinuki bowls after the shaping stage, before the firings. ⌛
One of these was made for myself, as I realized I don’t own any of my own kurinuki bowls. Its exterior shares the same finish as one of the pieces that will soon be available on the webshop: wild clay that I collected, washed, and sieved from my great-grandparents’ land. I have a deep personal connection to that place, which my family will soon have to let go to new owners, so reshaping a part of it into a new form feels especially meaningful.
On my high-fired stoneware, the wild clay creates a beautifully natural glaze effect without any additional glaze on the exterior - quite a magical transformation. Soon to be seen!
