Maybe it’s the back-to-school feeling of September, but I suddenly want everything at home to feel fresh again lol. I’m rethinking rooms, moving things around, and finding approximately 47 things I’d like to change.

Okay, THIS is how you have fun with traditional design.

Wallpaper everywhere, beautiful heirloom pieces, strong color… and then tiny sheep running along the bottom of the bed. And you all know how I feel about sheep lol. It’s the unexpected details that make me want to save a room for later.

Dark wood and white marble. I don't think I'll ever get tired of this combination. It's simple, but never boring. Sometimes you really don't need to overthink it.

As a designer, I have two secrets to making a room feel alive instead of flat, especially when you're leaning neutral. First, texture. It gives you all that visual interest while still letting the room feel calm. Second, one small pop of something unexpected, usually color.

Get those two right, and neutral never has to mean boring.

So much of my inspiration comes from traveling. I come home with more ideas than I know what to do with.

Does anyone else have a color they always come back to? For me, it’s this blue. If you’ve been around for a while, you know coastal style has always been part of our DNA, so maybe that’s why. It reminds me of my roots, but somehow still works across so many different styles and seasons. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it.

You all loved this bedroom, so I wanted to show you more of it.

Because a room like this isn't really about the bed. It's the little things around it, the fringe on an ottoman, the curve of a lamp, the pattern on a single pillow, that make it feel finished.

Traditional does not have to mean neutral. In fact, I think it gets so much more interesting when you bring in color and pattern.

The bravest design choice we made? Stopping.

This client had traveled enough to know she didn't want safe. Also didn't want the "look how hard we tried" version of not-safe. She wanted the third thing. That one's harder.

So we got out of the way. Let the beams lead. Quieted the cabinetry until one sculptural marble island was the only thing asking for your attention. That veining carries the whole room.

Backless bouclé stools so nothing interrupts the view. Velvet in the dining room. Fabrics in the breakfast nook durable enough for real life, still beautiful enough to love.
The whole house just breathes now.
