Everyone says they want an outdoor space for entertaining. But “entertaining” can mean a lot of different things.

For this family, it wasn’t about hosting big parties. It was about creating a place where people naturally wanted to spend time. Pool afternoons with their teenage kids. Family dinners outside. Friends gathered around the fire pit long after everyone said they should probably head home.

The challenge wasn’t coming up with the vision. They already knew how they wanted the space to feel. The challenge was making it happen before summer.

So instead of waiting on custom pieces and extended lead times, we designed around in-stock furnishings that could deliver the same feeling without sacrificing the timeline.

The fire pit became the center of the conversation area. Daybeds created space to relax by the pool. A long dining table made room for everyone.

And that’s really what this project was about. Not filling a patio with furniture. Creating different ways for the family to spend time together.

Most people don't struggle with their homes because they have bad taste.

They struggle because they're trying to recreate a look instead of understanding what made them respond to it in the first place.

The rooms we save, screenshot, and come back to over and over again aren't memorable because of a sofa, a paint color, or a styling trick. They stay with us because of how they make us feel.

The wicker, the stripe, the scalloped fringe… it all works together the same way it would inside. You just have better light. And yes, the pillows matter just as much out here as they do in. Haha.

I love a dining space that actually feels inviting.
And usually, it's the small details doing the work. In this case, it's the carved apron and fluted edge along the table. Subtle, but it adds just enough texture and depth to make the whole piece feel more considered.
It's the kind of detail you don't immediately call out... but you'd miss it if it wasn't there.

A sofa that anchors. Pillows that actually talk to each other. Shade with a little personality. A table close enough to set a drink on without getting up.
