Fabric arrivals are always a high point.

A patterned woven textile and a copper velvet, both selected for custom upholstered pieces currently in progress for a home in Mérida.

The furniture is still in production, but the room is already beginning to reveal itself.

Not every design decision begins with a beautiful object. Sometimes it begins with something practical that needs to live in the room every day.

For a client who needed continuous air filtration in the bathroom, we designed a custom ventilated cover for the air purifier: properly proportioned, accessible for use, and finished in a color and woven cane detail that belongs within the larger interior.

The goal was never to hide a necessary object as an afterthought. It was to give it the same level of consideration as every other element in the home.

Custom design often lives in these details: solving a real need while making the room feel complete.

A custom statement light for a stairwell in Mérida.

The client wanted something with scale, texture, and presence, a piece that would bring warmth to a tall, white architectural volume without feeling overly polished or generic.

Studio Zada designed the direction and worked with local artisans to bring the piece to life: handwoven, site-specific, and made for the proportions of the space.

This is the kind of work we love. Taking a client’s instinct, shaping it into a clear design idea, and coordinating the details until it becomes part of the home.

From built to finished.

Casa Malay had strong bones: light, volume, and a clear architectural shell. What it needed was the interior layer that makes a space feel personal, resolved, and ready to live in.
Studio Zada brought together lighting, art, textiles, furniture, styling, sourcing, and installation to give the house a stronger point of view.

The work is not simply adding more. It is knowing what belongs, what should change, and how each decision affects the whole room.

Studio Zada is now accepting select residential and commercial projects in Mérida and Yucatán.

Good bones are only the beginning.

The way a home ultimately feels is shaped long before installation day through hundreds of decisions involving layout, lighting, finishes, furniture, textiles, art, custom pieces, sourcing, and styling.

Studio Zada works on residential and boutique commercial interiors in Mérida and Yucatán, collaborating during renovation, construction, furnishing, and finishing to create spaces that feel cohesive, functional, and fully resolved.

Now accepting select June and summer projects.

Design decisions happen long before a room looks finished.

In a bathroom, the final result depends on the work underneath: tile layout, grout lines, material transitions, fixture placement, drainage, lighting, and how each surface meets the next.

These details decide whether the space feels intentional, or just expensive.

That is why we like to be involved while the work is still in progress. By the time a room is styled, most of the important choices have already been made.

Working through textiles for a new custom upholstery project.

The final mix will likely shift from what’s shown here, but this is where the work starts: testing tone, texture, scale, light, and how each material behaves with the others before anything goes into production.

A fabric can look good on its own and still be wrong for the room. Custom work takes time because the decisions are connected.

For us, art is never just decoration.

It gives a room energy. It introduces tension, softness, contrast, memory, and point of view. Sometimes it is the thing that makes the whole space click.

We do not look for pieces that simply “go” with a room. We look for work that gives the room more character and makes it feel less generic, less expected, and more alive.

Art is part of the foundation.

From concept to install.

A small custom gate, but a good example of how these decisions come together: site sketch, design drawing, color study, fabrication, then install.

The goal was to solve a practical need without dropping something clumsy into the garden. The final piece had to be functional, durable, and visually considered.

That is often the work: not just choosing something, but shaping it, refining it with the trades, and staying with it through the final install.
