So EXCITING Christmas is about to get real!
Let me tell you a story. Last year here at Villa Sorpresa we had a guest stay with us, that in short, became a friend. When he walked in the door he gazed at our tree and said, “oh I get you!”

See I have an overwhelming LOVE for vintage Christmas lights.

Every tree, garland and wreath I have decorated for decades have had a mix of the C7 Christmas lights and twinkle lights. As some may know, that C7 size of incandescent bulb along with the C9 size (some may refer to the “outside light” size) have become more and more harder to find.

Well to my surprise, my new friend John tells me about this venture that he and some friends have put together called “Tru-Tone”. With extensive, years and years long research & development they have found “THE” original colours of C7 & C9 Christmas lights. BUT here’s the real winner, they are LED.

Truth be told, I thought to myself that there was no way in hell, an LED Christmas light could be as good as the ever power-sucking incandescent originals. I googled them, watched every video review I could online and it seemed like this have found the new Miracle of Christmas.

Well folks, I am here to say that tonight when I swapped out the bulbs from my cheap Amazon find to the Tru-Tone bulbs, I can tell you these are definitely the REAL DEAL. I wanted to cry when I plugged in the set. It immediately brought me to my childhood of crawling under the tree to plug in the lights. I would stand back in amazement watching the tree all aglow. Not to mention the colours are perfect match to the the 1950’s originals.

And Here’s the best part I haven’t even mentioned yet. 25 of these new LED bulbs at 0.6 watts per buld is equivalent to 3 of the old incandescent bulbs. AMAZING!!!

It was a process but it turned out amazing!! These gentleman is a true it’s a talent. Many steps in creating a gold leaf, patina finish. He took my idea and turned it into something truly amazing.

Market finds at the furniture expo so much inspiration and beautifully crafted

Today was not only my birthday, but I got to spend it at aka “The Guadalajara Furniture Expo”. I got thinking, I’ve been to over 25 different markets, shows, & expos around the globe and some of them over 50 times. Today was special to visit this show in a country I now call home. Although design is not what I do everyday anymore, it’s still nice to see the inspiration.
