Ground Poetry Workshop

Ground Poetry Workshop If you have grown up unheard, misrepresented, or reduced to statistics… welcome home. Ground Poetry Workshop
An initiative of Nalayif Media.

Ground Poetry Workshop creates space for you to relax, reconnect with your reality, and express it through poetry. If you have grown up unheard, misrepresented, or reduced to statistics…Ground Poetry Workshop creates space for you to relax, reconnect with your reality, and express it through poetry. What This Is
Ground Poetry Workshop is a community-centered space where people come together to wri

te, reflect, and share their lived experiences through poetry. It is not about performance or perfection. It is about humanity. Through guided sessions, participants are encouraged to:
• Sit with their experiences
• Put language to what they feel and have lived through
• Share stories that are often ignored, silenced, or misunderstood

Why This Matters
Many communities today—especially those facing social, cultural, economic, and environmental challenges—are often spoken about, but rarely given the space to speak for themselves. Ground Poetry Workshop exists to change that. We believe:
✓ People should have the tools to tell their own stories
✓ Communities should be able to preserve their memory, culture, and identity

Expression is a step toward healing, awareness, and action
Hence, we turn to poetry as a way to document life as it is truly lived—honest, real and unfiltered. Our focus
Our work is rooted in engaging:
📌 Socially marginalized communities
📌 Culturally underrepresented groups
📌 Economically underserved populations
📌 Environmentally affected communities

These are spaces where stories are often lost, overlooked, or trivialized. We are intentional about going there, listening, and creating room for expression. Reconnecting with roots and reclaiming identity. At its core, this workshop is also about returning. Returning to:
- Our histories
- Our cultures
- Our voices

Participants are encouraged to explore:
👉 Personal and community heritage
👉 Cultural memory
👉 Stories passed down—or lost and now being recovered

This is how we begin to own our narratives again.

Dear Mother Earth,
I see you.
I see the way your waters struggle to breathe, heavy with oil and waste.
I see your soil, tired from all we have taken and left behind.
I see the plastic we scatter, like we have forgotten you are alive.
I am sorry.

I may not be able to fix everything.
But I will not ignore you.
I will be more careful with what I use.
I will pay attention to what I throw away.
I will speak, even if my voice is small.
You have carried us for so long.
You have given without asking.
Today, on World Health Day, I just want you to know—

I see you, and I care.
And in my own small way, I will try to make things a little lighter for you.
Your child.
