The gift of God that keeps on giving 🎄

•NUPE•
This patterned hand-carved stool is made from a single block of wood. The carved top surface is decorated with intricate patterns and colours traditionally hand painted by the Nupe people - who live along the banks of Niger River and are well know for their geometric artworks on their houses and furniture.
These beautiful circular stools supported by varying numbers of feet are rooted in the rich cultural history of the Nupe people as they are traditionally presented by intending grooms to their brides on their wedding day.

You can use these stools to add a pop of colour to any space, indoors or outdoors it does wonders.

Too often we see societies that devalue the enlightenment and empowerment of women, reducing them to baby making machines and forgetting they are the primary educators of their offspring.

Teach a boy and you educate a man, teach a girl and you educate a generation….

In this body of work, the artist mirrors his emotion towards the realities of hustle and struggle the youth face on their journey towards a brighter future in Nigeria.

“A distorted mirror cannot give a clear image” With the current state of the country, the government poses as a distorted mirror, as their actions are hidden from the general public; good or bad, no one really knows with the lack of accountability in our government.
•
Their actions or lack thereof has discouraged many youths from pursuing and actualizing their dreams; many ending up unemployed, depressed and suicidal. So many talents, dreams and hopes cut short for no fault of their own.

‘11:11 Mirror of Emotions’ features works by young and emerging talents currently facing the realities of ‘adulting’ and navigating the jumble of emotions that come with it. Showcasing mixed media, digital art, paintings on paper and canvas; exploring this range of emotions.
