It starts from your kitchen

THE HEALING KITCHEN šŸ²šŸ’š

Some days, healing doesn’t look like a fancy routine…
It looks like you, standing in your kitchen,
throwing things into a pot and hoping for the best.

But somehow —
that warm bowl of food makes you breathe easier.
It slows your thoughts, softens your chest,
and suddenly the world feels less heavy.

The healing kitchen isn’t perfect.
Sometimes your onions burn,
you add too much salt,
or you’re cooking with one eye open after a long day.

But there’s comfort here.

In the smell of pepper soup,
the way fresh herbs wake up the room,
and how spices feel like a hug you can taste.

Here, food reminds us:
you deserve care.
You can start again.
You can build peace one plate at a time.

Healing doesn’t always happen in hospitals —
sometimes it’s right here…
in your own kitchen.
Warm. Simple. Honest.

šŸ’š Cook. Taste. Heal.

Still on Stress Management Tips.

šŸ‘‰Digital Detox Hour:
Give your brain an hour of peace daily — no screens, no scrolls, no notifications. Your nervous system will thank you

šŸ‘‰ ā€˜One Task’ Rule:
Multitasking is silent chaos. Do one thing fully, finish it, then move to the next. Focus reduces stress better than caffeine.

šŸ‘‰10-Minute Nature Break:
Step outside. Even staring at a tree or the sky lowers cortisol levels. Nature is the cheapest stress medicine.

šŸ‘‰Say No Without Explaining:
ā€œSorry, I can’t.ā€ — full sentence. Protect your peace before your energy leaks.

šŸ‘‰Laugh Intentionally:
Watch something funny daily. Laughter triggers serotonin and resets your emotional energy.

šŸ‘‰ End-of-Day Unload:
Before bed, write down what’s bothering you — then leave it on the page. Don’t take it to bed with you.

✨ Daily reminder: You can’t heal in chaos. Create moments of calm — even 5 minutes counts.

Introducing Hope Leka Yaabel – A Passionate Caterer with a Heart for Homegrown Taste and Health

My name is Hope Leka Yaabel, and I am a passionate caterer with roots deeply planted in the warmth of a family kitchen and the bustling rhythm of a small restaurant. My journey into the culinary world began at a very young age—not through formal training or gourmet cookbooks, but through love, tradition, and the everyday magic of home-cooked meals.

As a teenager, I spent most of my afternoons helping my mother run our family restaurant. That kitchen wasn’t just a place where food was prepared; it was the heart of our home, the hub of our business, and the classroom where I discovered my calling. I watched my mother, a remarkable woman with an incredible talent for creating delicious meals from simple ingredients, serve both food and joy to our customers. I wasn't just assisting her—I was learning. Each day taught me the importance of flavor, timing, consistency, cleanliness, and, above all, the power of hospitality.

I began by assisting with small tasks: chopping onions, pounding pepper, washing dishes, and fetching ingredients. But before long, I was handling entire dishes by myself. From traditional soups and stews to rice dishes, soups and street snacks, I gradually became confident in the kitchen. I loved experimenting with recipes and was always eager to add my own twist to the meals we served.

Growing up in a kitchen environment gave me more than cooking skills—it gave me a deep respect for food, a strong work ethic, and a keen sense of customer service. I understood that cooking is not just about taste but also about creating an experience that brings people together, comforts them, and leaves lasting memories.

To further build on my experience and natural talent, I enrolled in a three-month catering and culinary course. During this program, I sharpened my skills, explored modern techniques, and learned more about nutrition, presentation, menu planning, and food safety. This formal training gave me a broader understanding of the food industry and helped me merge traditional methods with professional catering standards.

The course was intense and inspiring. I trained under experienced chefs, participated in live demonstrations, and completed hands-on assignments that challenged my creativity and discipline. It also taught me how to manage catering for events—planning menus for different occasions, organizing logistics, and serving large groups without compromising quality or taste.

Today, I run my own catering service, offering a range of dishes that reflect my heritage, training, and love for healthy living. I cater for birthdays, weddings, corporate events, family gatherings, and more—each menu thoughtfully curated to meet my clients’ preferences and dietary needs. My food is rich in flavor, prepared with the freshest ingredients, and always served with a smile.

One of the unique things I offer is healthy pap (also known as ā€œogiā€ or ā€œakamuā€), a staple in many Nigerian homes. Pap is a fermented cereal pudding made from maize, millet, or sorghum, and it’s often served as breakfast or a light meal. Traditionally, pap is known for its smooth texture and energy-giving properties. But over time, I began to notice that many store-bought pap products were either heavily processed or lacked nutritional balance.

So, I decided to make my own version of healthy pap, using carefully selected grains and natural fermentation techniques that preserve its nutrients and flavor. I produce different varieties, including millet pap, guinea corn pap, and mixed-grain blends, all enriched with natural fibers, vitamins, and minerals. I do not add artificial preservatives or colorants—just wholesome goodness made with care.

My healthy pap has become quite popular, especially among mothers who want the best for their children, individuals managing health conditions like diabetes or hypertension, and anyone looking for a nourishing, traditional alternative to sugary breakfast options. I make pap to order, package it hygienically, and deliver fresh batches to customers who appreciate quality and wellness.

What sets my catering apart is not just the food I prepare, but the heart and story behind it. Every meal I serve carries with it the memory of a teenager working alongside her mother, the knowledge gained from formal training, and the commitment to excellence that guides my work today. I’m not just a cook—I am a storyteller through food, and every dish I prepare tells a story of culture, care, and creativity.

I also understand that food is personal. That’s why I take the time to listen to my clients and understand their needs. Whether it’s a small order for home delivery or a full-course meal for a grand celebration, I tailor my services to deliver satisfaction every time. I offer tastings, work within budgets, and accommodate dietary restrictions including vegetarian, low-carb, low-sugar, and gluten-free options.

Beyond catering and pap production, I am also passionate about educating people—especially young women—about cooking, food hygiene, and entrepreneurship. I believe that with the right support and mindset, anyone with a passion for cooking can turn it into a thriving business. I often mentor others informally, sharing tips from my experience, guiding them on how to start small, and encouraging them to believe in their talent.

Looking back, I am grateful for the opportunity I had to start early. Helping my mother in her restaurant gave me more than just skills—it gave me purpose. And today, every time I step into a kitchen, I feel that same spark I felt as a young girl: the joy of creating something meaningful out of simple ingredients.

If you’re looking for a caterer who brings flavor, tradition, professionalism, and a touch of home to your event, I would be honored to work with you. Whether you want rich jollof rice, delicious Nigerian soups, tasty small chops, nourishing pap, or a customized event menu, I’m ready to make your occasion memorable—one bite at a time.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I look forward to serving you delicious meals that nourish both body and soul.
