i wish for a moment we were back on that porch.

that it was time to stop for morning tea.

to stop.
to pause.
to have a cuppa and a piece of your homemade slice.

just one piece.

and to sit on that chair.
the one where the newspaper was neatly stored.
for a moment.

to look out those floor-to-ceiling windows and notice.
the birds.
the light.
the simple things.

to be in those moments.
just one more time.

to be sitting next to you.
to feel your warmth.
to hear your laugh.

just one more time.

the feet quickly became numb.
the head a little clearer.
the body awake.
and more alive.
