Bespoke feature fireplace, Sandringham Villa 🔥
The brief: a fireplace that concealed an elaborate sound system, disappeared into the walls, and looked as though it had always been part of this century-old home — with a quietly contemporary edge.
Dark paint grounds the design beneath a new stone hearth and central electric fire. Above, a recessed niche houses a commissioned tapestry, flanked by cabinetry that melts into the surrounding walls — ventilation built invisibly into the joinery itself. Behind the shelving, microcement sweeps up and over the recess, drawing the eye up and making the fireplace the heart of the room.
Though the design takes up more of the lounge's footprint, the effect is the opposite: the room feels larger, helped along by spotlighting on the tapestry and dimmable lighting across the display shelving.
