Sunday Scent Series • 01 • “Franklin Forest”

Imagine a walk through the Hunua Ranges. Native bush overhead, damp earth beneath your boots and the sound of a waterfall among the pine.

Franklin Forest: soft smoke, warming amber and earthy moss. A forest escape for your everyday space.

Some of you may remember this as Hearth. A new name and illustration, with the same familiar fragrance you’ve loved.

We chose the name Little Batch Wax Co. to speak to the handmade nature of candle creation.

Small batch means we have control over production and quality, any problems can be rectified quickly.

We also have very little waste as we don’t have product sitting around for long - we are very selective about what we put in our products and on our shelves.

But there’s a little homage to the NZ bach, too. Cabin-like and tucked away in the woods or beachside, where you spend the day outdoors and come home to a cozy space.

Those are the places and feelings that inspire the candles we make —and the scents we are drawn to create.

West Coast — leather, to***co, amber and musk.
Alpine — cypress, evergreen, cedar and moss.
Eventide — santal, coconut and cedar.

September Candle Club Reveal: Lavender & Sage 🪻

A spring collection inspired by open windows, time in the garden and noticing what’s beginning to bloom.

Wild lavender meets earthy sage, driftwood and sea salt — like a deep breath after a long winter.

Inside, we tucked in Coco Lavender soap from R Gallery, flower-pressing paper and our September Field Guide, with spring journal prompts, a playlist and little reasons to slow down.

Hi! I’m Beth, the candle maker behind Little Batch Wax Co. in Pukekohe.

I live on a 10-acre farm in Pukekawa with my husband, our two young boys and my much-loved chickens.

I’ve always enjoyed making a house feel like home, and scent is such a big part of that. Lighting a new candle to celebrate each season brings me so much joy, and getting to share that with others is really, really special.

This past year has been a big one for Little Batch. We’ve celebrated a year in our Pukekohe warehouse and welcomed 100 members into our Candle Club. I’m thankful every day that I get to call this my job.

If you love cozy spaces and candles that smell like cabins, I think you’ll like it here. 🤎

And fellow Christmas lovers: there are three delicious festive scents coming very soon!

A little update 🤎

I’m taking some time to rest and recover from surgery, so we won’t be at the Smales Farm market this Sunday, October 11. 🥹

Natalie and I will miss seeing you, but we look forward to being back soon!

For our Candle Club members, your boxes are packed and ready to ship on the 15th as usual. A little happy mail is on its way. ✨
