Sometimes a painting is just a painting, and sometimes it’s a lifetime of memories finding their way onto canvas.
Monarch butterflies have been a constant thread throughout my life. A quiet, beautiful reminder that the ones we’ve lost are never truly far away. They still visit.
This piece holds a lot of depth for me, and as it emerges, I’m dedicating it to anyone who needs a sign today. May it remind you that your loved ones are always close by.

Do you have a specific sign that lets you know a loved one’s near?

Had the absolute privilege of being able to join in the Selwyn Artists Collective Open Studio at Te Ara Atea on Thursday night.

7 artists, each working on different pieces and in different mediums, with a few offering visitors to step into their own creativity to make a piece of their own.

In the two hours we were there, I was able to sketch in and make good headway on the underpainting foundations for this new work.

Anyone recognise this Cantabrian spot?

Keeping things as slow as I can post holiday for just a while longer. I’ve got some wonderful ideas bouncing around in my head and a few pieces on the go at the moment to help action a few of them. Getting some ground down on this one while the kids were at school and hubby at work. A quiet house, painting, incense and a cuppa -what a treat!

The fourth painting “Western Sky.” Where I live, we have incredible over reaching nor’western arches - a cloud formation that expands and seems to leap over the sky. The winds are warm, a little bit wild, but the days are bright.

The next in my series; “Southern Light” a reminder that even when your head is down, there is still light to be found if you just keep moving forward.

A wild “East Wind.” Looking back on this now, seems incredibly symbolic of what was 2025. Change was a constant and bought both strength and hardship, much like the horses posture - head down yet charging on through.

When lost in the dark where do you turn? It seems only fitting I share “North Star” as my first this year, year of the horse.
