Maisie O’Callaghan proudly serves as an Arts Prefect at Rotorua Girls’ High. A driven, inspiring leader, she uses her resilience and determination to empower others, mentor peers, and make a meaningful impact within her school and community.
Maisie has excelled academically, achieving NCEA Level 1 with Merit and Level 2 with Excellence, earning 100+ Excellence credits, alongside top awards in dance and law.
Immersed in dance since aged two, Maisie excels in ballet, jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop, consistently achieving outstanding results. An accomplished dancer and choreographer, Maisie has earned multiple regional and national titles, including an Excellence in Choreography Award for her work leading the RGHS Xpression Troupe. She has created award-winning Showquest performances, received the Showquest Young Rangatahi Standout Performer Award, and proudly represented New Zealand internationally, performing at Disneyland, Hollywood, and Universal Studios.
An inspirational role model, Maisie is a Peer Support leader, Junior Scholarship Mentor, and Ball Committee member. She shares her passion and expertise by running dance workshops, was Dance Captain for Tarzan, and performed in Shakespeare in Schools and Freaky Friday. A dedicated volunteer, she regularly gives back through community and charity events, including performing at Dancing for Hospice.
Outside school, Maisie loves travelling, performing, fashion, and spending time with family and friends.
Grateful to her family, teachers, and dance tutors for their support and belief in her, Maisie plans to study a Bachelor of Laws and Arts degree at university while continuing to pursue her lifelong passion for the arts.
