Last June 27, 2025 (Biyernes) around 10-11PM habang naka-park sa harap ng CLIPPER HOUSE MAKATI, Mercedes St., Poblacion, Makati.

A newly found CP (carnivorous plant) after 20 epic years of searching has been found just outside a doorstep. Sneaky lil trap, eh? 🤔

Carnivorous plants are rare, but now botanists say they've found one that's long been overlooked. It lives just outside Vancouver, British Columbia, and in other parts of the Pacific Northwest.

Haven’t posted much about the Trap lives lately but still we’re deeply rooting that everyone been doing great (and still on their daily hooka badooka individual trips hihi).

Just like this mini D. Petiolaris who’s always, always been alone inside a ziplock (once removed inside of it, Petiolaris tend to act dry and unhappy tho 😒) and been tagged as the ‘Most Introverted’ trap amongst them all, it’s thriving. 🌱

Dionaea muscipula "JT GIGANTE-Typical", a cultivar of the Venus Fly Trap grown in Bacolod City. As its name suggests, full-grown traps of this locally famous carnivorous plant grow up to 1.78 inches traps - the biggest so far or one of the largest in the Philippines. When exposed to bright sunlight or if indoor grow light, the traps of a JT Gigante -typical have bright red interiors and green exteriors. Petioles remain green and short about 0.48mm. 8 to 11 trigger hairs were observed in its mature form, new leaves would have less than 4 trigger hairs. You can distinguish new traps from old ones by the interior color. New traps open green and redden with age and ample sunlight or grow light exposure.

Carnivora 6100 is a sole proprietorship of Mr. Jan Ray Talavera, who has been growing and taking care of this cultivar for two years and four months. He already released a handful of both juvenile and mature plants to different parts of the country for further observation if the cultivar will surpass its current documented trap size.

To put an end to the confusion. I am airing my side of the story of PON.

Brief history of DM JT Gigante

I Jan Ray Talavera bought a VFT seedling in the size of a 25 cent peso coin from Gladee Konrad Williams around Jan 2019 and named it JT Gigante.
On July 23, 2020 Patrick G. Bucabal made a blog for his YouTube channel Tukib TV titled GROWING CARNIVOROUS PLANTS in PH. Which I am very thankful of featuring me & my carnivorous plants collections. On Oct 18, 2020 Patrick Bucabal created another blog titled GROWING CP IN PH: THE IMPORTANCE OF DORMANCY & this is the time that we agreed to change it's name to DM PON as per Patrick's advice so that it would give credit, honor & promote trourism in our province.
That being said I ALONE, Jan Ray Talavera grew, cultivated & propagated this said plant since the day I acquired it from Gladee which is from Jan 2019 upto present.

In addition to that, the DM PON is the real DM JT Gigante -typical.
All transactions made with Mr. Bucabal will not be honored by us at Carnivora6100, no matter what agreement you may have come up with him.

This post is not to promote hate but to end all confusion and enjoy the hobby because hobbies are great distractions from the worries and troubles that plagues our daily living.

Working while on events with Whizbang Studio was a highly enjoyable experience. Sending all our cosmic love with sprinkles of ‘herbs and spices’ (lol) to the whole crew especially their photographer Gaisle Isaac!
