Things people don’t know about being a small business artist…

One of the reasons I stopped posting for a while wasn’t because I stopped creating.

It’s because posting is hard 😭

For me, I spend more time choosing what photo or video to post than actually posting it. Then comes choosing a cover photo, editing the video, finding a song, and my biggest enemy of all…

Writing the caption.

Honestly, sometimes writing one caption feels harder than drawing a doodle 😂

It’s not like I can just post “hi”, “hello”, and “bye” hahaha.

As small business owners, we wear so many hats. Artist, photographer, videographer, video editor, social media manager, customer service, packer, shipper… and probably ten other jobs I forgot to mention.

And if I’m being honest, social media is one of the things I struggle with the most.

But here I am, trying to post more consistently this year 😆

So if you happen to see one of my posts, feel free to say hi. I really really put a lot of thought and effort in posting just one post haha

A little strawberry bookmark moment from Journey 1: Sweet Sakura Treat 🍓

Looking at this made me think about how much happened after my rebrand last year.

After rebranding, I went quiet for a while and honestly stopped producing much. I was still promoting my brand and I already had consignment stores, so I thought that was enough.

But along the way, I realized I forgot one important thing…

I didn’t have an online store.

And I kept thinking — what about the people outside the locations of my consignment stores? What if someone wanted to support my little brand but lived far away?

I used to have Shopee before, but eventually moved out because of the document requirements, and somehow I never found my way back to building an online space again.

I guess this season has been teaching me that creating is one thing, but learning how to grow a small business is another journey on its own.

Anyway, here’s a tiny strawberry bookmark from Journey 1 — one of the little pieces that quietly stayed with me through all of it 🌸

Random thought lately:

One of the things that inspires me the most is having people around me who share the same hobbies and understand the little world of creating.

Talking about business, art, ideas, plans, and even the smallest random things with friends really helps me feel motivated again.

I realized it’s hard for me to do things alone sometimes. But when I get to talk about my small business with people who also get excited about their own dreams, it makes me want to create more too.

Honestly, I sometimes wish we all lived in the same house so we could just create, brainstorm, and talk about our little businesses every day. Haha.

Just thankful for creative friends who make the journey feel lighter.
