Kalunuran is a recipient of the Merit Award in the 2026 (Spring) Malaysia International Online Juried Art Competition, Figures and Faces category.

My deepest gratitude to ifam_global for the recognition, to the jurors I look up to, and to Phil Guild of Watercolorists for the opportunity!

Thank you, Art Club Manila!

Zoom in.

Look at the light through the leaves. The way White Nights watercolor bleeds into the bark to make it feel alive. The mask pulled down for a peace sign. The one kid crying because he realized how high they are.

This is “PANHIK” — 50+ hours of layering White Nights pigments by

Why White Nights Watercolor?
Because childhood isn’t flat. It needs depth. The granulation in gave the tree texture you can almost touch. The glow in their skin? That’s how this paint catches Philippine sunlight. You can’t fake that with digital. You have to earn it, one wash at a time.

Why paint this now?
Because kids today climb TikTok, not trees. But this… this is us. Barefoot. Scared. Laughing anyway.

We’re documenting childhoods before they disappear. If this piece made you smile or ache a little, you’re our people.
