A medicine woman arranged an initiation for her disciples
All 12 of them must join the rite every friday for 8 weeks
On the first friday one disciple claimed to see a vision of flowers falling from the sky
On the 2nd friday another 2 disciples went into a trance
On the 3rd friday another disciple said she saw a vision of a woman clothed in white
The 4th friday was when 2 disciples went weeping hysterically from some kind of bliss
The 5th, 6th and 7th fridays was when the rest of disciples were seeing more visions of clouds opening up the sky
On the 8th day i was thinking to ask permission from my guide & teacher to leave the rites because i never had visions or bliss experience at all. I was thinking im not fitted to be a disciple because i was not given the gift.
Then the Teacher Medicine Woman hugged me and said “ Only you passed the test, the rest of them are fakes, they lied about their experience”.
Then she told me “ Go and move up to the Higher Mountains, its calling you” .

The past few months have been heavy for me as an artist ~ no sales, just a growing pile of bills and quiet doubts creeping in. I held on for as long as I could, hoping things would turn around, but reality has a way of catching up.

So I shifted into survival mode.

It wasn’t an easy decision, but I had to choose stability. I’ve decided to pour my time and energy into a small food business. It may not be where my heart has always been, but it’s what will keep me going ~ it’s what will put food on the table.

Art isn’t leaving me, though. It just won’t carry the weight of my survival anymore. It will be mine again~ something I return to for expression, not pressure. No more hard selling, no more sleepless nights sewing, no more sacrificing my basic needs just to keep it alive.

This isn’t giving up. It’s choosing to keep going, just in a different way.

And somehow in the midst of all these, something gentle has started to grow. In the afternoons the kids drift into my little store, sweaty and smelling like the sun, they settle in with their fruit shakes, teasing and laughing and we talk about their crushes and jewelries and school and what snacks they want the next day.

This is the kind of life that's slowly holding me up now. And its good enough.

I ended up cleaning the studio in the early afternoon today and it felt like a sacred act of returning, an offering of presence, as if i was clearing not just the room, but the quiet corners of my own spirit.
Found this tapestry stashed among the piles of fabric, an almost finished piece that was a witness to my soliloquies on those times when life hits the hardest.
