In 2015, around Christmas, I decided to buy some felt to make some hand-sewn Christmas items. At the time, I even considered doing it for myself as house decoration. What I didn’t know was that I was so good with it that some people wanted to buy some articles I had made. I was so delighted that I decided to create a name and logo for my “shop”: Felt Ideas Shop. At the time, unemployed, I felt tha
t sewing was a way to make ends meet. And so, I took a leap of faith and decided to buy a sewing machine. I had never worked with one before but I had the determination to say “Ok, now that you bought it, you have to learn it. Let’s go!”. I can tell you it was the right choice to do. It wasn’t easy at start, I never needed YouTube as much as now to learn certain sewing techniques, and it helped me so much in the learning process. So many times, I was frustrated with the thread getting stuck or the needle breaking… those were the times that I needed to take a deep breath, but as someone once said: “A man who never makes a mistake will never make anything”. I can say there isn’t a day when I’m not doing my sewing projects. Sewing makes me feel good and, to me, being creative is a form of living! I’m always looking for new ways of developing articles with better precision, improving my techniques and using the best tools to help me in the creative process. We constantly live in a learning state and it is that learning that makes our lives better. Thank you and don’t forget to do what makes you happy!
