Last week I went on an alternative kiln building course, focused on building a kiln with common house bricks and fuelled by charcoal - a super efficient and effective way to reach low firing temperatures. The kiln got to 980°C in 3h, and used a minimal amount of charcoal as fuel, and house candles used to ignite it! I couldn't quite believe it. This is definitely something I want to explore further, especially when using terra sigilata to burnish the pieces, and playing around with adding combustibles to the piece once hot and out the kiln

Something a little different today. Portugal was hit by some horrific storms at the end of January, and our property has quite a bit of damage from it. It's strange driving around the area and seeing hundreds of fallen trees and damaged houses, but things slowly seem to be getting back to normal. I've started making again, and this weekend was focused on bringing the vegetable garden back to life and clearing debris from our land which felt good. I'll hopefully get back into a rhythm with posting on here, but won't be coming on here as regularly. If there's something you need to reach me for, don't hesitate to do it via email if i'm not responding to dms

Happy new year everyone! I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things here, but I was looking back at pics from before the Christmas break and found these lovely ones.

The question is, stick to one colour scheme or mix and match? With these new pieces, you get to choose what you want in your home 🥰 I'll definitely be developing more of these in the coming weeks, but for now, you can find them at .azeites in Lisbon, or you can get some more unique & one off pieces from in Lisbon also! But hurry, they won't be there long!

A fun little challenge set by my father in law! He gave me these oil bottle stoppers a few months ago, and I had a go at making some bottles for the olive oil we collect from our trees 🥰 Still figuring out my preferred shapes and glazes, so once I'm back in the studio in January I'll keep practicing and refining
