Spent all Sunday afternoon wrapping up birthday presents. I take gift wrapping seriously. Nevermind if they’re gonna be ripped apart. I’d still decorate them with fancy pleats, ribbons and bows.

Fuzzy white house slippers from HOOGA. This is my 2nd pair. One might think they may be kinda too warm for our climate. But it’s shoes-off in the home and I have bony feet. They get cold easily after puttering around on tiles for some time.

Happy New Year 2023! Btw, this photo was taken in 2021 and sadly, I can no longer squeeze into those skinny jeans. With perimenopause now in full swing, lately I could not control my intake of chocolates and ice cream. My meal portion has increased by 20% and eating has been a joy ever since I resolved my digestive issues. This is made worse by the move to our new home that got me to haul heavy boxes. To get that done, I was seriously doing strength workouts with heavy weights and power yoga to pile on more muscle mass. It’s not about getting into shape, it’s all about eating for energy, so more carbs and doughnuts. And I’m gonna be stuck to that for awhile until I get settled into life.

I won 2nd prize for this portrait of Mark Slaughter I made when I was 18yrs old. I’ve kept it ever since. It’s drawn with pastel chalk, a super easy medium to work with. It feels like eyeshadow 😆 and blends like eyeshadow, so yeah that’s no problem for me. After 30 years, the colours never faded. I remembered my art teacher refused to give it back to me after the competition. Can’t believe I had to fight to get my own artwork back.

I love cherries and they are so expensive in Asia, it’s such a treat to have them. Funnily, when I was living in England, was selling mangosteens at an exorbitant price it made me laugh. But I was eating bags and bags of cherries coz they were cheap there 🍒

Lunched on braised duck noodle by newly halal-certified at Amoy Food Centre. I love Chinese food and really appreciated this Hokkien fare. The flavour was lightly herbal and meaty, even perhaps a non-spiced reminder of Mee Soto. A bit too salty for my taste but still pretty balanced. I’m just a sugar ju**ie 🍰

They were generous with the noodles but hey, where is the duck?! I could count only 6 slivers of duck meat each about the length of my thumb and half its width (my thumb is really tiny). Paid $2 extra to add some braised tofu and one boiled egg.

To be honest, I did frown on the lack of vegetables. But now I know to bring my own side of salad the next time 😆

More than a sneak peek at my latest addition to my fine art haul. This is an acrylic painting of Greece by Dr. Rakhi of .art.galaxy. Really one of a kind and honest depiction of Greece’s coastal cities in 2 bold colours. What is remarkable about this artwork is the underlying innocence it evokes. Why would one need so much complexity in art when you can build an entire city with just 2 colours and a few straight lines? Clap

thank you for making this amazing piece. The first time I saw your artwork it was love at first sight and unforgettable. Almost pinched myself when it was sold and for hesitating to get it. This time I wasn’t going to miss it ❤️

With a heavy heart I had to let go of this exquisite pot that I bought at the Singapore clay festival. Sadly, the seller couldn’t fulfil some agreed requests but quickly sent a refund. For traders like me, supply certainty, consistency and reliability are more important than beauty. I’m not a desperate buyer and I still have a bounty of unique pieces from the fair. Knowing when to walk away is part of doing business.

Goodbye pretty little pot ❤️❤️❤️
