Before a design reaches completion, there is a less visible process of setting out dimensions, resolving junctions, coordinating trades, checking proportions and adapting details to the realities of the site.

These decisions may seem small in isolation, but they accumulate. A few millimetres affect an alignment. One junction influences the next finish. A change in one trade can affect several others.

This is why site work remains an important part of the design process. It is where ideas are tested, details are refined, and the intent of the design is protected through construction.

Before and after: A full toilet overhaul.

This was not just a light refresh. The entire look and feel of the space was changed, from the old wall tiles and exposed, dated finishes to a cleaner, brighter, and more refined design.

The new toilet uses large-format tiles to create a calmer backdrop, while the classic basin, framed mirror, warm wall light, and simple fittings give the space a more polished character.

Turning a standard BTO walkway into a cleaner, more intentional part of the home.

The original hallway had visible door frames and separate finishes that made the space feel more broken up. In the after, the design is much more seamless. The concealed doors sit flush with the wall, creating a cleaner visual line from one end of the walkway to the other.

What makes the transformation work is how quiet the design feels. The doors blend into the overall wall treatment, allowing the corridor to feel calm, minimal, and thoughtfully resolved.

It is a simple change with a big effect especially in a BTO home, where clean transitions can make the space feel more spacious and refined.

In this home, the wooden double doors help define the kitchen while keeping the service area neatly tucked away when needed. When closed, the kitchen feels more composed and visually complete, with the doors acting as part of the overall carpentry language.

When opened, the space becomes more functional; giving access to the laundry area, storage shelves, and everyday essentials without disrupting the main kitchen flow.

An existing home, thoughtfully lifted.

For this project, the goal was not to erase what was already there, but to give the home a renewed sense of warmth, clarity, and character.

The design brings together warm wood tones, marble-look surfaces, brass accents, soft lighting, greenery, and familiar decorative pieces to create a home that feels refreshed without losing its soul.

The kitchen now sits more confidently at the heart of the home, with panelled cabinetry, brass handles, open shelving, and a marble-look backsplash adding both structure and softness. The island anchors the space, while its rounded edges make the transition between kitchen, dining, and living feel more natural.

Across the home, classic details are balanced with everyday comfort. The staircase cut-outs, pendant lights, textured rugs, display pieces, and layered plants all add rhythm without making the space feel busy.

What makes this project work is not one single feature, but how the existing home was reimagined. Giving it a more cohesive, intentional, and personal expression.

The entrance sets the tone.

For this home, one of the standout details is the fully customised main door, finished with a glass panel in the middle — a rare feature for condominium homes, where entrance doors are usually more standardised.

It gives the home a stronger sense of character even before you step inside.

From there, the details continue: black groove lines on the shoe cabinet, brass hardware, marble textures, display pieces, and warm wood tones that bring the space together.

The groove lines on the shoe cabinet are not just decorative — they also allow some air flow for the shoes inside, helping the storage feel more practical for everyday use.
