to the trip to Nippori Fabric Town.

I walked into the Tomato shop and I really had to exercise so much self-control. I went with a credit card and ALL the cash. To top it off, I went without my spending limiters (husband and kids). So I must say this is a really modest haul 🤣

Who am I kidding? Is there anyone who shares the same views?!

✂️ READY TO UNLOCK YOUR SEWING SUPERPOWERS? 🧵✨
Stop staring at your fabric stash with hesitation and start sewing with total confidence! By popular demand, 4 BRAND-NEW SESSIONS have just been added!

Whether your child is eager to start their creative journey or you’re looking to master the machine together, you are in expert hands. As a former primary school teacher, I specialize in breaking down complex steps into fun, manageable, and encouraging lessons. I bring patience, clear instruction, and a supportive environment where young makers (and beginners of all ages!) can truly thrive.

Here is what you need to know about each 3-hour session:

Tote Bag Workshop
This is the most fundamental workshop where you learn the most important skills in sewing like stitching, commonly-used terms and cutting fabric. On top of that, you’ll get to learn how to finish your bag by enclosing the raw edges using French seams. It is the perfect lesson for those who are completely new or are still feeling unsure about sewing.

Zipper Pouch Workshop
This workshop requires you to be familiar with the basic sewing terms and stitches. You will be learning how to install by-the-yard zippers and topstitching. On top of that, you’ll get to learn how to finish your bag by birthing and closing off with a simple stitch.

Every session is designed so students walk away not just with a completed project, but with real-world creative confidence. Our group sessions are conducted at the following location:
📍 Bernina Studio at M38 Jalan Pemimpin
📅 Schedule: Let me know which session you would like to sign up for
🎟️ Spots: Strictly limited to keep class sizes small for plenty of 1-on-1 machine guidance! Invite a friend and get 15% discount for both of you!

Private sessions can be conducted at Bernina Studio at M38 Jalan Pemimpin or Bedok Reservoir View

Looking for sewing buddies and new friends who are interested in picking up sewing!

I like to do things alone but I'll admit that doing things I love with friends can be really fun too! There'll be days when I would still rather hide at home and sew (I'm a hermit), I would like to change things up a bit by looking for friends to sew with and newbies I can teach (and spend time sewing with).

DM me if you are looking for a sewing buddy or sewing teacher! I'm trying to come out of hiding and you'll be a great help to me 😂

Remember the kids were wearing Pokemon hats to the Pokemon Center in Shibuya?

They wore Star Wars hats to Disneyland! The beauty of making things reversible is that we can pick the side that suits our mood, occasion, location or !

Theodore wasn't too happy though... He only wanted to show off his Psyduck but we were in Disneyland!

Psst! That purse I carried followed us on a few holidays and it is still in great shape! The only thing showing wear is the colours fading at the edges but I still love it very much. I can put 4 passports and cash, making it easy to cross the customs.

We just came back from Tokyo on Sunday (ya, we skipped school to travel 🙈). On every trip to Japan, a pilgrimage to a Pokemon Centre is a must (amongst other things) so I whipped up the hats in a jiffy so that they can put them on to be with the Pokemons 🤭

Adorable kids in adorable hats with adorable Pokemons.

The fabrics are from my shop.

Life has been busy over the past few years as I focused on raising my children. Now that they're older and settling into school, I finally have the time to return to something I truly enjoy... teaching. ❤️

I spent 10 years as a primary school teacher, and one of the things I loved most was seeing someone grow in confidence as they learnt something new. That feeling has never left me.

Sewing has taught me so much over the years. It has made me appreciate the thought, skill and care that goes into making something well. It has also reminded me that not everything has to be rushed. Sometimes slowing down and making something with your own hands is exactly what we need.

That is what I hope to share through Sew Sloth Studio.

Whether you've never touched a sewing machine before or you're looking to build a stronger foundation, I hope my classes will give you the confidence to keep creating long after the class ends.

If you've been thinking about learning to sew, I'd love to be part of your journey. Feel free to send me a DM if you'd like to find out more. 🧵💛

Help!

This time my mistake is I cut the zipper tape too short 😱 so one end comes out rather easily.

I know I can just go back to the step of installing the zipper tape and reinstall a new and longer one. But... I really don't want to 😭

Can someone please help me out here? What else can I do to secure the zipper? Save me please!

I've had the projector for a year (at least) and I never got around to using it even after setting it up. I was always rushing to get sewing done so I was afraid that I'd be too distracted with setting up instead of working on the cutting itself. I was just really afraid that it was going to take too much effort. Anyway, paper patterns for bags are usually quite quick to cut so why bother?

This time, I wanted to make a dress for my daughter, something I haven't done in more than a year. I didn't want to print, paste and cut out the pattern before cutting the fabric so I thought it's a good time to bite the bullet and set up the projector. Guess what?! With the website I used, it was so fast! I spent at most 30 minutes to shift things around, tidy the table and calibrate the projector. Once set up, everything was a breeze! Now I know why so many sewists say they'll never go back to paper patterns! I'm in love 🥰

Would you consider using a projector? Or continue cutting paper? Let us know!

One day, just as I approached my warehouse, I heard chatter behind the door. A few brave zipper tapes decided that it was time we had... THE talk... 😱

I thought they were going to break up with me. 💔As it turned out, they wanted more... attention... I agreed with them! I took them for a photoshoot and put them in a reel.

Hope it was good enough to... stroke their ego. Fingers crossed that the rest of the zipper tapes don't start a rebellion the next time I go to my warehouse. 🤞🏻
