The Ethical DrumSmith is back !
Ludwig Atlas cymbal stand from Speakerbox on the bench lately.
A stand yours truly already fixed but broke down somewhere else this time.

The main tilter shaft came loose after hours of loyal services (throw some severe bashing in there too), so it was time to address the issue.

The main tilter shaft received an M4 thread and the king pin hole on the tilter itself got drilled out at 4mm so the M4 button head screw can pass thru.
The whole thing now secured with hard Loctite thread lock, nothing’s ever gonna budge.

The main clamping on the tilter wasn’t gripping enough so it got shaved a tad. Just the metal saw blade thickness passing thru to remove just the necessary amount of material to improve the clamp grip.

Stage ready again.

Sweet CMC Hammered Brass 13x6 snare drum (made right here in Thailand) received a pair of steel triple flanged hoops for a more classic “timbale” look.
All round checked and now T.E.D.S. Spec approved!

On T.E.D.S. bench, a Tama S.L.P. 13x7 snare involved in an unfortunate car accident (all people are safe, no worries on that end). Despite of the snare being in its hard case, it still suffered from major injuries:
- The shell got cracked twice respectively under the throw-off strainer and the butt-plate attachment screws.
- The throw-off lever got into a "Z" shape upon impact.
- Bottom die-cast hoop got severely bent along with a few tension rods.

The strainer lever got carefully pressed a few times in a heavy duty vice, same thing for the bent rods.
Bottom hoop got reshaped and after some epoxy resin was injected inside both cracks and clamped over night, the shell got back to 95% of its original round shape.
Both top and bottom edges were also reseated to make sure the head contact is optimal.
Happy to report that she’ll live !

Sweet emergency throw-off replacement on this DW Edge Snare from Khun Taw.
The Mag Throw-Off strainer has different hole clearance so an additional drilling was necessary.
Neat job done while the owner was rehearsing in a studio nearby. Thanks All about Drums for your recommendation and Khun Taw for your trust.

After way too long (so sorry Mr Note for the delay), the bent Ludwig Raw Brass snare is back to its former round shape.
Happy and humbly proud of the result on that particular repair.
Thank you to my old man for the tooling, sourcing and his precious help.

Some moons ago, a drummer friend of mine accidentally dropped his brand news Ludwig Raw Brass snare and the shell got severally bent/damaged (pic 1).
Eventually could find time and proper tooling source pic 2,3&4) to attempt a fix and the this is the result (pic 5).
After few optimally placed “pushes” across the shell to get the top and bottom edges back to their original location, the shell is now 95% back from 0 to O shape 😅. The snare bed shape affecting the bending, the bottom edge won’t ever be 100% as before but totally playable.
Both top and bottom heads sit without any friction on the shell so it should not be affecting the sound much. Reassembly next !

22” bass drum hoops repaired with most of their strength integrity back thanks to some internal epoxy resin soaked threaded rods.

It’s been a while but still alive and kicking !
Tonight, quick prepping and tuning on this cute Tama Club Jam kit at Lloyd's Club for a serie of gigs with Soulberry Band.
Great sounding minimalist kit !

Throw-Off upgrade on the 2015 pre-production “Pig Iron” Tin Plated Pork Pie Percussion 6.5x14 Snare drum.
INDe Drum Lab throw with universal butt plate.
Works like a charm.
