From local roots to the city, Playworks is a handcrafted souvenir and lifestyle brand created by rural artisans from Chiang Mai, Thailand. Inspired by the motto “Life is a journey,” the brand has now expanded and welcomed new “friends” to join the path—becoming Playworks&Friends, bringing the spirit of travel and craftsmanship to the heart of Bangkok. Located at Zone I on the 5th floor of Central World, the design employs industrial-grade aluminum frames, polycarbonate sheets, and galvanized mesh to emphasize versatility and reflect the modern urban lifestyle of Bangkok. In contrast, the use of wooden planks and handmade products expresses warmth, local identity, and craftsmanship—the very core of the brand. This fusion of modern structure and local texture celebrates the meeting point between the city and the countryside—between people, journeys, and stories. Here, every corner of the shop invites visitors to pause, explore, and take a piece of that journey home.

Interior Contractor: Behind the Bliss

Located at the heart of Nimmanhaemin area. The new renovation project 'Playworks Studio' is the Artist' Co-living space with shop. As the space is limited provided by the old townhouse, function and spatial management is a challenge. The new extension at front of the house added for the main entrance and display area and create the new exterior façade. Large glass plane and covered staircase were used to attract eyesight from the street, welcome people to looks inside and walk-in to explore. Various material selection in gray tones gives a distinct looks contrast from surround building and modern urban-vibes to the area. For interior design, Sliding door and smooth surface built-in play main role to solve the spatial problem and keep the minimalistic character of the house. The Open-plan high ceiling studio space create the flow of use and provide more space for multipurpose mezzanine which can be used as a gallery or production space. Furthermore, Skylight staircase at back of the house let in sunlight create a sense of outside-in to indoor atmosphere which helps boost creativity and productivity to all user.
