I've been over the moon excited about a series of paintings installed last week at the Hendrick Professional Center here in Abilene, TX. The Hendrick Designer, Amy Forrest, has been a dream to work with. I still have a few more paintings to complete and add to this installation, but I couldn't wait to show you how they looked at the soft opening on Friday.

Two of my works MIXHAUS GALLERY booth E12 in the Houston Affordable Art Fair Texas this weekend. I’m not there but I’m enjoying peeks of so much good art from other peoples shares. My title for the landscape was borrowed from this Talking Heads song. Thoughts of all those who immigrated to Texas and the layers of events and people that get absorbed into the land.

UPDATE - A WINNER HAS BEEN PICKED. Susan McWeeney Newsham you have won your choice of Harvest in Blue Willow. Thank you so much, everyone, for participating. There is always next year! The remaining pumpkin paintings are in my website shop here: https://www.pollyjonesart.com/new-products

I’m excited to announce my annual pick your pumpkin painting giveaway! My first one was on my blog in 2009 🎃

Here’s how it works:

1. Follow me on Instagram or Facebook.

2. Sign up for my newsletter (if you haven’t already) by following the link in my profile.

3. Like and comment on this post by sharing the number of your favorite painting. I’ll share the full photos in my stories if you’d like a better view.

4. On a separate comment, tag a friend or two you think might be interested for an extra entry. Also, share in a post or in your stories for an extra entry as well. (Please let me know in a comment here if you did.)

On Sunday afternoon I’ll draw a winner. I’ll be doing this giveaway on both Facebook and Instagram so there’s a chance the winners might pick the same painting. If so, whoever responds first to message me their mailing address will get first choice and the other winner can choose another painting. You can enter on both Instagram and Facebook. Free USA shipping is included.

5. I’ll be sharing the winner on Sunday , October 11th at around 3:00 pm CST. I can’t wait to see which one is your favorite! 🧡

This giveaway is not sponsored, endorsed, administrated or associated with Instagram.

In progress. Seems like no matter how many years I’ve been painting, my initial idea never works out. It’s a crooked journey and the emotional ups and downs are sometimes rough. I have to believe that the “wrong” turns benefit the final painting. Giving textures and colors and forms that wouldn’t have happened otherwise. I guess that’s why in life and in art we are advices to trust the process.

I’m early stages here. So much of the background will be painted over with some areas visible through the layers. I really like to have an up close experience that’s interesting and draws the viewer in. I’ve been meaning to paint this swan planter that was my grandmother’s for a long time. The Queen Elizabeth tin is a new (old) find.

I’d forgotten I had a 24” floater frame to fit “Long Shadows.” It’s part of an ongoing table top series I have and an ode to favorite artists I grew up admiring and thoughts of my creative grandmothers and mother.
