🧶✨ Dye Pot Sunday! ✨🧶
The dye pots are bubbling, the yarn is soaking up color, and our studio is filled with joy today! There’s something magical about watching plain yarn transform into beautiful, vibrant skeins that will one day become treasured shawls, sweaters, socks, and gifts. 💕
Fun Dyeing Fact: Did you know that people have been dyeing fibers for over 5,000 years? Ancient dyers used natural materials like indigo plants, madder root, onion skins, flowers, berries, and even insects to create colorful textiles. Some shades—especially rich blues and purples—were so difficult to produce that they were once considered symbols of wealth and royalty!
Thankfully, we don’t have to crush bugs or gather wagonloads of plants to create our colorways today. 😉 But every skein we dye still carries on a tradition that’s thousands of years old.
At Drunken Sheep Yarn Co., we’re proud to put our own joyful spin on this ancient craft—creating colors that make you smile, spark creativity, and bring a little happiness to your needles and hooks. 🐑💖
What’s on your needles or hooks this Sunday? Show us in the comments—we’d love to see what you’re making!
