Definition: Embroidelee - a unique ability to combine rulerwork and embroidery to make complete, rich and textured quilting designs brought to you by our fabulous Sew Steady partners.

Join Sew Steady Education Ambassador Kate Quinn as she shares a fun placemat design featuring a combination of Rulework and Embroidelee. This Americana inspired placemat is made with Kate’s Swoon Block placemat pattern. Here is the link for the pattern: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/jpsv94xcbid9oys5y9yx7/4th-of-July-Swoon-Placemats.pdf?rlkey=pfzavqgtb0j4n4sa69a0muugw&dl=0
(Note: You do not have to load Dropbox to download the file, but Dropbox will want you too.)

For the rulerwork quilting in this video Kate used the Westalee 3” x 8” Straight ruler and the Circles on Quilts 4 pc template set. The Embroidelee design I used was from the Big T Embroidelee collection. There is also a set of Circles on Quilts Wreath and Echo 16 templates with 5 sizes. You can also find the Elevate box, the Big T Embroidelee Set, and my super cute Sew Steady Stars t-shirt. Be sure to check out all these options to help you finish your own quilting projects! All of the Sew Steady/Westalee tools are available through Sew Steady using my affiliate link: https://www.sewsteady.com/ref/11/.

Some items and additional supportive quilting items are available on my website www.FabriKatedQuilts.com. This helps me keep producing new content for all of you, so I am very appreciative of your support!

I have a big family, so I am making a few more mats since we have a growing family. I am quilting each one differently for fun. Try out all your templates and your embroidery designs to find unique combinations and fun designs to spark your creativity.

Happy Quilting,
Kate Quinn

Celebrating all Moms!!!

Here are pictures of my Mother's Day project, Just Desserts placemats, with some blueberry Macrons made by my sweet chef and baker-in-training daughter Esa!

I also gotta give her some props as she develops her skills. She just got hired on as a baker for a local bakery!!

One of the best aspects of being a mom is see our children be successful in their lives.

One other incredibly special note for this Mother's Day is the announcement this year that my oldest son and his wife are expecting their first child in early Nov!!! I have had grandma fever for a while and am so excited to celebrate this new little life.

Here is a link to the project and it includes a free handout guide. It is a Rulerwork based project. You can use the guide and add any designs you want and have different designs for each placemat, but a complete set of fun placemats sized just for coffee and desserts.

Started drawing with my rulers and my brain to find an elegant design for my Kaleidoscope quilt block that also flows smartly and easily for connecting elements. I know some people don't like the quilt the tar approach but I definitely do. I worked from the inside to the outer edges considering how each piece will have to travel of double stitch to get to the next. Some things worked and some did not. I kept moving them around until I got something that seems pretty to me. Quilting with a plan lessens anxiety for me too.

Mostly used the mini arc and the mini oval and a few straight edge marking lines for reference here. The trick when sewing will be to create as even placement as possible for the right and left sides to give good balance.

Do you plan out designs or do you wing it? Or both??

The finish is always the most fabulous!! My daughter did this in a class maybe 10-12 years ago. I think she was about 8 and is now 20 years old.

I am absolutely loving the new Dahlia Rulerwork template from this Sew Steady's Q2 Elevate subscription box! I have the Get it All! box so I can play with the embroidery designs as well as the templates but I love the potential of this design. This is based on the Block B Big T design pattern but I added some great embellishing with the template and used the freemotion to travel around.

I used my favorite thread brand-Magnifico from Superior Threads. It looks amazing on that orange which is from Free Spirt Fabrics.

Check out this quarters fabulous box!
