After a string of unfortunate events that kept me from creating, this long-overdue coin purse is finally finished and heading to its new home.

It features a hand-felted pond scene with koi fish, lily pads, and embroidery elements. I’m so grateful to the kind customer who patiently waited for it.

It feels good to be making again.

It’s been a productive day at Shear Joy Crafts, working on a commissioned coin purse. I created the fabric that will be used for the lily flower and lily pads, along with a water-inspired base. The textures and colors are coming together beautifully, and I’m excited to see this piece take shape.

Check out the photos to see the process so far. I’m looking forward to sharing more as it all comes together!

Just finished this magical little purse, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! The landscape features dreamy pastel skies with fluffy needle-felted clouds, vibrant fields of flowers, and a burst of color brought to life with tons of sparkling glass beads. Every bead catches the light, adding a little extra magic.

The inside is just as lovely with a silky light blue liner, adorned with delicate butterflies and flowers. And that antique-style 6 1/2 inch kiss clasp and handle? The perfect vintage touch!

I’ve been seeing so many amazing wet felted purses in the felting groups lately and I decided to give it a try myself. It’s still a work in progress but I wanted to share a bit of the journey.

I’m including photos of the steps I took, from creating the wet felted base to picking out a liner. I’m excited to add more details soon and see how it all comes together.

What do you think? Have you ever tried wet felting? I’d love to hear your tips and thoughts.

Clover’s Grand Additions

Clover has elevated herself… With delicate wings, fluttering lashes, that would make even the most glamorous butterfly jealous. She has fully embraced her role as the most refined caterpillar in the garden. She carries herself with a certain grandeur—as if she might offer you cryptic wisdom before lazily dismissing you with a flick of her antennae.

Her feet, attached using a vintage inspired string and loop with steel wire joint. Not to simply scuttle about but they do make her feel wonderfully alive. With the slightest touch, they tap ever so impatiently, as if waiting for the world to catch up to her level of elegance.

Of course, she’s still awaiting her final accessories, but rest assured, they will be nothing short of exquisite. One simply must complete the look before entertaining visitors, after all.

Caterpillar Update!

After a week away taking care of family, I finally got back to working on this big girl—almost two feet long if you stretch her out! She’s really coming together, but she still needs the perfect accessory. I’m thinking maybe a tiny umbrella, a necklace, a purse, or even a flower crown… but I can’t decide!

Also, she finally has a name—meet Clover! I think it suits her perfectly.

What do you think would be the best finishing touch for Clover? Let me know in the comments!

Caterpillar Update!

The colored wool is felted down for real now, and this little bug is officially stepping out in style. Bright stripes, big attitude, and just the right amount of weird — exactly how I like it!

Next up: arms and legs! That’s when this funky critter will really come to life (and maybe start plotting world domination… who knows).

What do you think so far — adorable, mildly unsettling, or both?

Caterpillar Update!

Making progress on this little critter! I’ve got most of the core wool wrapped onto the steel frame, and the clay face is officially attached. To help you all see where I’m headed, I quickly tacked on some colored wool — just a sneak peek of the bright, funky colors I have planned.

It’s still very much a work in progress, but I couldn’t wait to share! Let me know what you think so far.

Caterpillar update!
The face is sculpted and ready for paint! She’s already giving off that perfect mix of elegance and menace — like she’s used to getting her way, and isn’t afraid to spin a little mischief to make sure of it.

Next up: paint, where her true colors (and her sharper side) will come to life. Stay tuned — this curious creature is only just beginning.

I usually start with a drawing when brainstorming new ideas. I don’t normally share these because the final piece often looks very different from my first rough sketch. But I’ve been wanting to share more of my process, so here’s a little peek at what’s coming next!

No judgment on the rough sketch—everyone starts somewhere! Stay tuned for more updates along the way!
