Ever wonder why you love your perfume in the bottle but not on you? Good news, it may just be your application that needs to change. Movies and media made the spritz and rub method popular and I wish I knew why. It’s morphing your perfume’s scent profile and not in a good way...
🙅🏻♀️Don’t rub in your perfume! Heat and friction causes the already fleeting top notes to evaporate that much faster, cutting the natural progression and maturation of the fragrance in half.
🙅🏻♀️Don’t spray directly onto dry skin/only on your skin. Body pH, heat, sweat, and friction decreases fragrance longevity and scent profile accuracy.
👍🏼Spray directly on your clothes (fabric permitting)!! Your fragrance will last hours upon hours! It also gives the best representation of the fragrance because the above conditions are no longer competing with it and hindering it as severely.
👍🏼If you want to spray it on your skin, be sure you’re nice and moisturized first to help your perfume last longer. Doing this gives fragrance molecules something to anchor them so they stick around a little longer (ever notice how fast the same fragrance you love fades that much faster when it’s winter vs summer? Winter means drier skin which means your fragrance disappears faster).
Try these tips next time you reach for your perfume and see if it helps!
