So… let me tell you where I’ve been.
The last few weeks knocked me down. I was job searching in marketing and doing everything right. Tailored resume for every single role. Follow ups. LinkedIn updated. Built a whole website and portfolio. And I still got no after no after no, when I wasn’t being straight up ghosted.
And as a career strategist? That messed with me. I felt like a fraud. How am I supposed to help people land roles when I can’t land one myself?
But here’s what that season taught me, and I need you to hear it:
Sometimes it is not your resume. It is not your follow up. It is not you. Sometimes the market you are standing in has shifted, and the move is not to push harder. The move is to pivot.
So I went back to the drawing board and leaned into what I know. And in less than a week, I landed a childcare contract that fits my life and pays me well.
Less than a week. After months of silence in another industry.
If you are doing everything right and still hearing nothing, I am not going to tell you to just stay positive. I am going to tell you what I had to tell myself: look at where the demand actually is. Sometimes that means a different role in your industry. Sometimes it means a different industry entirely. Pivoting is not giving up. It is strategy.
I built this space for us to be honest with each other, so that is what this is. I love you guys. I’m back, and I have so much to teach you from this one.
