Earlier this year I made a decision that a lot of people told me didn’t make business sense.

I switched The Type Set Co. to a four-day work week. Same pay, same benefits, fewer hours. No catch.

As a founder you’re conditioned to believe that more hours equals more output. But we make products about slowing down and learning through play — it started to feel a little off to not practice what we preach.

A couple months in, I can tell you it was the right call. Our store is still open 24/7 and we’re still shipping every order. We’re just doing it in 32 hours a week instead of 40.

People over pressure. That’s the whole thing.

You know how it goes.

Things were going great until Monday morning. We flip on the laser — giant pop, burning smell, the works. Very bad. Bad bad bad. 🫠

My husband (electrical engineer, fixes literally everything) took one look at it... and left for Alaska.
He’ll be home in two weeks. 🤪
