💛 Plants as decor! Incorporating plants into your home decor increases the quality of your indoor air quality and boosts the morale of any space.

💛 African masks are definitely making waves this season as culutral decor becomes ever popular these days. If you are considering incorporating some African masks or art into your home, do some research to ensure you understand the pieces you are bringing into your home as well as their authenticity and place of origin.

💛 Wall tapestry adds depth and texture no matter where you display it! It also serves as an exellent conversational piece and focal point.

💛Acrylic organizers elminate clutter while still allowing you to see what you have. These are great additions to any bathroom or office. They are also extremely easy to clean!

Since it's LOVE Week, I thought it'd be great to highlight some candle companies as candles are a sure fire way to curate the atmosphere for your weekend.

is an Atlanta-based company producing amazingly scented candles for your interior space! Anything related to Black Culture, sis more than likely has a candle for it.

specializes in premium fragrance soy candles and melts. If the names of her candles don't capture you, the fragrances definitley will!

has so much to offer: candles, linen sprays (which can also be used as a quick room refreshner), and body care items. Len + McAddy candles will provide all you need to make your space feel like home.

hand pours each and every one of their candles with the utmost love and care. She prides herself on making candles for everyone, so much so that you can subscribe to receive candles on a monthly basis! Hey hey! Remember back in January when I mentioned that peel and stick wallpaper was one of the things I was loving? Here’s why!⁣⁣

🟡 It is gaining in popularity, so there are a plethora of patterns, textures, and colors to choose from.⁣⁣

Pro-tip: Installing peel and stick wallpaper can be tedious and time-consuming, don’t be fooled 😩 ⁣

When installing your wallpaper, you’ll need a few small tools:⁣⁣
🧰: A handheld squeegee (to remove air bubbles and smooth out wallpaper)⁣⁣
🧰 An Xacto knife (to cut your straight lines and remove excess paper)⁣⁣
🧰 A ladder or step stool (to give you more height depending on the height of your walls)⁣⁣

Happy Saturday, Bungalow Brigade!

This month I'm introducing "5 Things I'm Loving", which will be a highlight of home decor items that catch my eye. For January, the 5 things I'm loving are:
✨ Open Shelving
✨ Black Interior Paint
✨ K***s + Pulls
✨ Peel + Stick Wallpaper
✨ Fire Pits

Open shelving provides a simple process of storing, styling, and organizing items that you utilize on a frequent basis (i.e. books, candles, dishes, sound bowls, plants, etc.).

Black interior paint is bae! All day! It instantly transforms your space into anything you desire it to be: relaxing or warm or luxurious or sleek or comfortable. It complements any decor style out there!

K***s and pulls are the least expensive way to update older furniture and to add extra flavor to any cabinet or drawer. (i.e. you adore your grandmother's dresser but it's missing something...add k***s and pulls that are representative of your style).

Peel and stick wallpaper works wonders for large and small spaces alike! The installation is not for the faint-hearted but it's worth it once you have a finished product.

Fire pits are a great way to have those cozy bonfires outdoors without riksing burn marks on your grass. They also enhance your outdoors events up a notch!

Happy MLK Day!

Historically, this day has been one commemorated by time off from work to give back to communities in various ways. Let's be clear, that is phenomenal, but we were given a charge towards the end of 2020 from Be A King to take it a step further and educate each other on why these problems are present and how we can galvanize to create the systemic change necessary to eradicate them.

The most versatile color to exist.
The most forgiving color to exist.
It is bold, vibrant, commanding, clean, and elegant.

I recently painted my office black and it is the best decision I've made in 2021 (yep, I know we're 17 days in, lol). I often ponder why I didn't think of it sooner.

Last weekend I had the absolute honor of making over my dear friend's home office. When she asked me to take on this project last year, I was excited and couldn't wait to get started...
..then months went by before I actually started, I couldn't pinpoint why until I did some digging. The "side effects" of the pandemic had set in: missing genuine human connection, unmotivated to start anything new, and grappling with this "new normal" during the holiday season. Fortunately, as a friend, she understood.

I gave myself a deadline to finish and I'm glad that I did. It was the best way for Bungalow to kick off 2021! Her sunroom/office is probably the quaintest project I've done...and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.

How are you all coping with the pandemic? I hope that you are able to find some happiness and comfort during these peculiar times. ✨

Amanda, thank you for affording me the opportunity to make over your home office. It was an absolute joy!
