What would make us long for Avacado Green and Harvest Gold? While I am a firm believer that all colors (and feelings) are valid- it’s likely NOT your love of late 70’s- 80’s hues that make your heart skip. It’s the nostalgia of the times you had while being surrounded by fabrics, appliances, and clothes in warm autumn tones and according to PM Dawn, that my dear is Memory Bliss. It’s when you remember all the good bits of days gone by and if only for moments forget why you were happy to see them go. After you finish with your own personal time warp [that if anything like mine took me back to Tears for Fears, Simply Red, Annie Lenox & WHAM!, my first pair of banana yellow converse, bangs, monogrammed sweaters, Carmel Jr. High & my sister’s Es**rt GT], check out our photos of the appliances of days gone by and their new adaptations. Definitely modernized in color and shape but cleary these manufacturer(s) are/were having “one of those déjà vu’ things”.

Crewel is a special kind of embroidery done with a pointed hook and used for drapery and upholstery. Rows of chain stitch done with a pointed hook form solid patterns usually rotating from the center and creating an embossed effect to add richness to the textile.

No one correctly guessed the musical inspiration for our DesignIs showhouse... several came close though. Clues: the room was a mix of vintage & modern (timeless), black & white, organic & sustainable and the fireplace added a spark...did ya get it yet?
