"But Joe, if you explain your work to everyone who will listen, won't you run out of customers?"
This is actually how forced scarcity has brainwashed us - into thinking we must jealously guard our secrets and methods, to protect ourselves from supply and demand.
Here's the thing though - I know how to mow my lawn... I still pay someone to do it b/c he has better tools and I'm allergic
I know how to groom myself... I still pay someone to do it sometimes because they have better tools and do it every day
I know how to do handyman work... I will still pay someone if they have better tools and requires an expert for peace of mind
AND SOMETIMES I JUST WANT SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT.
Time has a greater value than money, despite our daily effort to put a price tag on it. The owner of this company believes that with knowledge comes greater control over one's life and greater agency over how one spends their time.
A Nerdco customer is a friend, a family member. You CAN text me with simple questions and just like your distant relative, I'll answer when I have time. I am not going to be successful by nickel and dime'ing every little problem that comes up for your tech, and most problems can be fixed by restarting the device (that's real). The problems I charge for are the ones that require my tools, time and experience.
I want to be a household name. Everyone has one or two big plumber names that come to mind when there's a toilet to replace. When the lights start flickering too often you already have an electrician whose name you're going to google. When the computer acts crazy, or you want to add smart tech or accent lights to your home, I want Nerdco to be the only name that comes to mind. I want my website (upgrades coming soon!) to be bookmarked on every computer in and around Mcdonough (then GA, then the USA, eventually the world). This is what I plan to build - A forward-thinking and ever-changing company that strives to give the world a resource for problem solving in regards to technology. The beginnings are humble, but the vision is global.
